How bad does Orange Bowl want out of Big East tie-in?

They are out of it. Starting in 2014 it's ACC champ vs a team from the Big Ten, SEC, or Notre Dame.

you are correct, they haven't had a tie in to the BE since I think the time Miami amd VT moved to the ACC. UConn was in the Fiesta couple of years ago as BE Champ. They are tied to the ACC and since the ACC champ has been no where near making the BCS CG, they don't get a replacement pick and the good at large teams are gone by the time they pick most of the time.

The Big East's BCS rep isn't tied into the Orange Bowl, it's the ACC vs at-large.
