when I mention the greatness of both the Gilmore girls and veronica mars I'm instantly berated by people who have never watched the shows. Both are fantastic.
For christs sakes the late great norman mailer made an appearance in an episode of Gilmore girls. The show was way above the head of the intended audience of tween girls. Very clever at times. I remember hearing modest mouse's tiny cities made of ashes in the background on one if the first episodes I watched and I was so caught off guard. One of the best things my old college girlfriend did for me was introduce me to the show.
