Abso-effing-lutely

As I am sure they will be lined up to participate, we might need to get a selection committee together to weed out the less enthusiastic LLotOT.

Also when i did my tasting i had it all guys for the tasting and their SO showed up after dinner together... Win Win for everyone when liquored up girls show up to the party.

It was fun to keep it just guys for the first round as we could all cut up and BS without them.

Dewars. Always bring back 4 or 5 bottles from a cruise vacation.

Glenfiddich 12 yr, but the best scotch for the price IMO (if you can find it) is Speyburn. At about $24, it's on the low end of price but will not disappoint in taste.

I think more important than brand is region. Took me a while to realize this, but there is a significant difference.

Highland Single Malts
-Island Single Malts, A sub-section of the Highland region
-Speyside Single Malts, The northeastern coastal area of the Highland region
Islay Single Malts
Lowland Single Malts
Campbeltown Single Malts

Right. You find a region you like by tasting them all, then you narrow it down to different distilleries

As I am pimping on a budget I picked Speyburn up on a whim. WOW! I was so surprised at how good it was for the price. Normally all I require for my scotch is a glass but it is one of the few single malts that I will drink with soda and lime.

The Cove in BR has the Speyburn 12 and 15 as well. Also they recently changed the label and the can.

Any of you guys shop closer to New Orleans? I'm in st Charles parish and have been hitting the local grocery stores. Presently looking for the Belvanie. There is a wine and cigar shop close by. Think ill try there.

Just had a guy from work text to ask me what scotch to get. Guess I have a reputation.

Told me his BiL and FiL fancied themselves Scotch drinkers.
I asked him what they brought.

His reply?

"The Dimple Pinch is surprisingly good for the price. Also, look for sales. Right now callandro's has the balvenie doublewood on sale for 50."

Pinch is my favorite and the balvenie is excellent. Everyone dogs the blends but they can be real good. I Have a couple of Pinch decanters that are sweet.

While I would not call Pinch my favorite, it is very drinkable and a good value. All Johnny Walkers are blends including the Blue Label. Blends can be VERY GOOD.

Me blue is great. Black and gold are good too. Not a fan of red.

So since this thread started I've removed my Glenlevit from the freezer. Seems I'm killing the taste. Now using a very small single ice cube. Have a bottle of Johnny Black and have been sipping both. I'm trying to figure out what it is I like bit just comparing the two, the Glenlevit seems to have more of a bite of flavor that I like. I'm about 2 months into scotch drinking so I'm honestly still figuring it out haha. But enjoying the trip. Got two bottles on the list that I learned about here. Also going to request a macallen 15yr for Christmas. My goal is to have half the collection of "senior-scotch man"!! Hahaha.

Fr33 I mean that in fun. Your opinions are heavily appreciate by me.

Don't knock freezing the scotch, I can't stand the rocks either...

I have an outside fridge with the quasi freezer up in the corner...kind of your first dorm fridge...that's is where I hide mine.

I also pour and let sit for a few before I taste, and since I'm outside, it warms up perfect, kind o like letting a wine breathe I assume

Perkins and Siegen in Baton Rouge

I must say this thread is pretty impressive

I go through phases, right now I'm toting a maccallan 12 at the house

I went to a scotch tasting at martins about a month ago though and I have my eye on a few bottles there
