Rp as got to be pretty close, especially considering the position he played.

He had over 9k yds passing and 3600 yds rushing in his career. 84tds 13ints then he only added another 71 tds on the ground.

Joe Ferguson out of Woodlawn Shreveport was no slouch coming out of HS. Had broken several passing records etc., and rated the best qb. All state by acclimation, only time I have seen it happen. Of course, back then there were no stars rating system.

Fournette is damn good but Kevin Faulk is probably higher on the "more touted" list. That said, we might be seeing it more out of retrospect since he was the trendsetter that turned everything for LSU

No.... Faulk put the ball on the ground a lot....measurables favor fournette too

Fault was not number one at his position nationwide

Or at RB....remember he played qb in hs

Booty- bill Walsh said he was the best HS qb he had ever seen....

Ferguson was good, but not the highest rated. Fwiw, THE best QB ever out of LA was Bert Jones, the original @7_era.
This includes Manning.

Booty may have screwed up his QB play by going to baseball first. He might have been that good, but lost his touch being out of football.

Yes, Faulk was highly touted nationwide. Even more in LA... because he was from LA and everybody knew he was special. But not as highly touted as Fournette. Faulk could be compared to a couple other RB's and there be a debate. There is no comparison to LF and anyone else in this class; there is no debate.

Bert Jones - never made ALL state.... I think Johnny Booty and Joe F. made all state ahead of him...

also fournette was a 3 time all stater - faulk 2 time...

I always put...

Mike Miley, Mike Brooks, Holly Wilson, Reggie Wayne, Kevin Faulk, Marshal(as a CB LOL), Leroy Ettienne, T Wilcox(if never got hurt would have played in NFL for a long time), Leroy Hoard, Josh Booty, Peyton Manning, Dalton Hilliard, Cecil Collins, Andolsek, and ed reed in some ELITE company....

but.... 5... like one coach that saw him his freshman year...said.. NO way he is a 14 year old.... I gave him a number to call..... and he called me back 15 minutes later apologizing...LOL... the fact that he is THAT GOOD.. and never held back is even more impressive.

and a couple of those.. highly touted five stars from here have flopped mightily.. or got hurt and never reached full potential...

Fournette is the highest rated, highest touted Louisiana player ever.

He could very well be the Second Heisman Trophy winner at Lsu

Johnny was two years behind Ferguson. Ferguson, out of HS, was the number one qb on everybody's list. B Jones was not, but ended up with probably a better college career. Johnny was a better athelete but went into ministry. Bradshaw-Ferguson-Booty, quite a line of QB's from WHS back in the day. Again, Ferguson was all-state by acclimation - they didnt even vote.

I would put Fournette 3rd. Booty, Berlin, Fournette.

Brock Berlin was known nationwide in the days before the internet had really transformed recruiting and made it accessible for everyone.

He didn't have much success afterward but Berlin was huge, huge recruit.
