quote:

Ex-Chicago Bears head coach Mike Ditka was hospitalized on Friday after suffering what he said is a "very minor stroke." Ditka said that he was playing cards at a suburban country club on Friday when he noticed that his hands "weren't working quite right," and that he was having trouble speaking. The Chicago Tribune reached Ditka on the phone on Friday, and the coach downplayed the incident.

Ditka said, "I feel good right now and it's not a big deal."

(via Chicago Tribune)

Ditka is a part of ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown," and will not be on set in Bristol, Conn. this weekend. Ditka last had a health scare in 1988, when he suffered a heart attack while still coach of the Bears. He returned to the team only a week after that incident.

It is definitely a big deal. Minor strokes are generally warning signs of a more serious problem lurking. Take care of yourself, Mike !

fricking boss.

He will walk it off.

Players today would be in the hospital for a month.

He sucked so bad as the Saints coach, but he is just such a fricking boss.

I don't think a stroke can get fricked up, so it probably isn't in much danger from Ditka.

Drag man, hope he gets right. I want to hear his quotes for years to come. The older and crazier the better.

..and with all due reverance did anyone else instantly get this picture in their head?

That's bad news - hopefully he isn't reduced to a Matt Millen level of functionality

" Ditka versus a stroke?"

" Was the stroke major or minor?"

"Minor"

"Ditka!"

Ditka could take a major stroke, and two coronaries. At the Same time.

The only way Ditka loses is if G-d need someone to coach his football team.
