Price: 20-5, 211 IP, 2.56 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 205 Ks

Verlander: 17-8, 238 IP, 2.64 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 239 SO

Pretty identical, outside of wins and IP, but Verlander's team made the post season. not saying that should be the metric, obviously. But they were VERY close.

So Price had..

More wins

Less Losses

A lower ERA

Yeah they should have never given it to him..

Deserving..... The innings thing is big though an they could not have gone wrong with Verlander either

If you asked Justin Verlander, he would tell you he had a down year by his standards.

Lol.

Verlander played way more innings.
I'd give a slight edge to Verlander but I'm ok with Price winning. Good for him

definitely agree. verlander started 33 games, price 31. but verlander basically threw 3 more games than price on top of that.

The voting was separated by 4 points. Price had 14 first place votes, verlander had 13, and someone voted Fernando Rodney #1

If it was a metric who would it favor?

When they both pitched the non playoff team did better than the playoff team.

wins, losses, and team making the playoffs have nothing to do with who the better pitcher was.

as for kimbrel, relievers just don't throw enough innings to provide as much value as starters.

I can definitely argue that Kimbrel was more valuable than any of our starters

well sure, over all Braves starters, but they didn't have any elite starters.
