Look at the two recap opening paragraphs from the weekend:

aTm - Johnny Football and the SEC newbies from Texas A&M took down the biggest bully in their new neighborhood and left No. 1 Alabama with badly bruised national championship hopes.

LSU - Zach Mettenberger rifled accurate passes over the middle, lofted timing throws down the sideline and demonstrated for a second straight week that LSU could indeed move the ball through the air.

One paragraph sounds more marketable than the other.

...exactly.

it isn't much different the hot new sneaker or hot new christmas toy everyone snags off the rack in an instant, much related to good marketing. otherwise, we'd all still be wearing Red Ball Jets and buying our kids Tinker Toys.

Saturday Down South supports their predictions pretty well here I think: Sugar Bowl: Alabama Fiesta Bowl: Texas A&M Capital One Bowl: Georgia Outback Bowl: Florida AT&T Cotton Bowl: LSU Chick-fil-A Bowl: South Carolina Gator Bowl: Mississippi State Music City Bowl: Tennessee Liberty Bowl: Vanderbilt BBVA Compass Bowl: Ole Miss Independence Bowl: Missouri To clarify Texas A&M to the Fiesta… at large teams don’t have to be the next best ranked team. So, Florida, Georgia, LSU can all still be ranked ahead of the Aggies, and the Fiesta can still take Texas A&M. And they will. It’s a better fit geographically. Johnny Manziel is going to be a Heisman finalist (at least). A&M fans will travel in droves to this game. LSU, Florida, Georgia? Not as much. If Georgia beats Alabama in the SECCG, A&M still might still be the at large team over Alabama. Both would be two loss teams, and Alabama fans aren’t going to be excited about playing in the Fiesta. Not as much as A&M fans will be.

...perfect logic start to finish.

That article loses all credibility when they say aTm would travel better than LSU..... That is stupidity...... There are reasons that aTm would go over LSU but number of fans at the game isn't one of them.

...people took notice of a near empty LSU stadium with still 12 minutes still to go in last saturday night's game. espn even made a point to make a point of it.

what was up with that?

hot fans don't desert their team for the last quarter of a conference game. jus' sayin'.

Still trolling huh?

You are clearly just trying to stir up shite.

There are plenty of teams that couldn't fill up a 90,000+ seat stadium to begin with. The stadium was still louder than other stadiums when Loston had his pick six with about a minute and a half left and the stadium half full.

Oh yeah and this is irrelevant anyway. Fiesta Bowl doesn't care who stays. If the tickets are sold they have made their money.

See my and other posts above.... seriously NOT stupidity.... aTm is a MUCH, MUCH, larger university than LSU and has been that way for a very long time = a lot more Alums, ok --- and they have not been to a BCS magnitude bowl game in MANY years = they will go apeshit wild if/when aTm gets a BCS bid.

So -- as hard as it seems to be for some to accept ---- aTm is a better financial choice for the Fiesta Bowl than LSU, UGA, UF, or Bama.... and at the end of the day.... it's about the money now isn't it?

If you have trouble fathoming this concept --- brace yourself -- because if there is a choice involved THIS YEAR the BCS bowls are going to choose aTm over the SEC alternatives.

All of this is of course premature because the odds of several of the top ten losing a game before the end of the season are pretty good. Still, it is obviously possible that a BCS bowl would select A&M over a proven winner. You might try and get that Aggie dollar now, since who knows the next time they will be ranked high enough to go to a BCS bowl game.
I am reminded of the recruiting battle over Harvey Williams. It appeared to be down to A&M and LSU. After Williams selected LSU he told of his recruiting trip to Bryan College Station. He got off the plane, heard a couple of the male yell cheers, saw the bonfire surrounded by military bumpkins and knew right then he was coming to LSU. I chuckle, because it is like a real life Aggie joke.

..well, i said i was bowing out of the thread, but i can't resist the bait.

again, i am not an a&m fan. he11, now i have a&m fans on my @ss over on the sec rant forum for my statement saying Johnnie Football will not win the Heisman over Collin Klein. the a&m'ers are now calling me a k-state'er.

how many times to i have to repeat myself?

i am not a homer specific of any sec team, nor any other major d1 program. he11, i attended a division II university.

i offer objective assessments that ARE NOT based on being a fan of any sec team. sometimes i'm wrong, more often i'm right, a lot because i'm not blinded by homerism.

dealing with extreme homers is sometimes futile. but i'm used to it. this isn't my first rodeo.
