I know the conventional wisdom is that Miles went all Mad Hatter when he didn't need to and that the Tigers would have beat the gumps straight up if he hadn't gone there.

I have a bit of a different theory. I think its very possible that the Tiger players, knowing that Miles had the tricks in the game plan and then seeing him actually start to implement them loosened up a lot and this contributed to the run they went on in the 2nd half.

Just speculation I know but it kind of seems like that to me.

Of course, I think it is pretty much without question that the fake FG was still a horrendous call.

guaranteed they knew he would take chances. in his presser, said team wanted him too and players after the game said same thing

This team played looser and more free than at any time this year so your thoughts on the mentality of the team are certainly valid

nope.

Kick 55 yard FG, miss

Kick 40 yard field goal, fakes it.

If you use the wildcat, don't fricking run a play that everyone knows what is going to happen.

Onside kick was a good call IMO

I keep reading this, but we showed an option look out of this formation in a similar spot against A&M.

I didnt like two calls: the fake FG and the 4th and 1 Wildcat call. Other than that, I have no problem with any of the calls, other than maybe the "Soft Prevent D" at the end.

But I agree, I think the players and coaches came in with a "All-Out" attitude and it was a big reason why we dominated most of the game...

Whatever it was, something lit a fire under he players and at the same time had them playing like they were having fun out there.

It's only crazy if it doesn't work.

Saturday night in Death Valley, on national TV, against the #1 team. That would get anyone jacked. Hell, I was jacked and I'm eligible for Social Security

The fake FG on 4th and 12 had to have a read built into it. The read was "no" and we should've tried the FG.

54 yd FG attempt: Les needs to widen his FOV on this. If you throw on 3rd and it's inc, then you have to be prepared to punt in that situation. If you run it, and Bama stops the clock, then you punt. Else, let the clock run down and then try the FG leaving little time on the clock. What you don't want to do we did: give away the clock and field position.

Agreed.

4th & 1: ok with going for it but we were too late getting personnel in and hurried it. Also, the pitch to Ford run vs A&M would've been seen by Bama. Needed to build off that.

Also, using the TO before our last FG attempt. No reason we couldn't have got set-up without using the TO. If he makes it, Bama still wins with a TD. If he misses, Bama can play for the tie/win and we would need the TO.

Should have pitched it to Ford like they did at A&M

For me, when I yell, "No!" before the play or as it starts, then the outcome is less important to whether I think it was a good call.

Fake - bad because of the coverage and distance - worst call of the game
54yd FG - was on the fence, but I didn't really know Alleman's range
Onside - bad
4th & 1 - good to go for it, didn't like Warecat
Last FG attempt - on the fence
Prevent at end of both halves - on the fence

Can't think of others at the moment.
