So, had Miles and Mett been sandbaging all year?

We saw offensive sets and plays that were college level compared to the little league stuff we had seen previously. If so, did this cost us the Florida game?

I hope not but if so Les just proved to be the dumbest coach alive.

I suggested this earlier in the year on here, that it seems we like just getting by with the most vanilla offense we can early in the year, so we can gain an upper hand on Bama. I'm not sure thats completely the case, but it seems that way sometimes.

Your assumption is asinine. All we're seeing is the development of a quarterback who has had two weeks to assess his performance so far and prepare for an opponent who had him motivated to play at his highest level with maximum focus and effort.
And on top of it most of the coaches plans worked out for us and the quarterback was successful more times than not.

I've thought that all year. I was at the spring game and Mett looked like a different QB than what we've seen up until the Bama game. That's the QB I expected to see this year last night.

Or.....Mett could be improving. Insane thought I know.

Its more of a question than an assumption - I am just struggling to figure out how we dominated the number one defense in the country while not being a to sustain a decent drive agaist lower tier teams.

They weren't sandbagging. I think it was a combination of multiple things.
1. They used the off week to develop a gameplan that broke a lot of their tendencies. This kept Bama's D off balance.
2. Mett stepped up big time, which allowed them to open up the playbook.
3. WR's made some great catches after a rocky start.
4. O-line is really gelling

No, not at all.
Quarterbacks have to go through growing pains. For about half a season, it all seems like it is moving too fast for them. They struggle to make reads and to manage the offensive rhythm of the game. Then, a good QB will have a game where it all comes together and the game slows down for them. Once this happens, you usually have a really good QB from there on.
I think we witnessed that happen last night. Mett is going to have a great senior season next year. Unfortunately, Bama and Georgia will also have senior QB's if they don't go pro.
The O line injuries lost the Florida game.

Great points, every one.

I really don't mean to flame you, but if I knew as little about football as you apparently do, I wouldn't post questions like this.
Seriously man.
SEC football is grown up stuff.
Your question is Jr High

Sometimes players improve with experience.

Yes they do and sometimes players forced into playing before they are ready by injuries get better and better too.

Yes, we even lost to Florida to make it more believable

Miles has always done this after off weeks. During game weeks he works on tweaks and corrections but doesn't really put in anything new. In addition, the new guys on the right side of the line have proved they could get the job done...

So we lost to UF to fool Bama?

Imagine if Mett would have been the starter last year.

I imagine we'd have lost a couple of games

The question was designed to provoke a response and generate thoughtful analysis to explain how our offense, which had been described as “inept” all year, was able to dominate the number one defense in the country. I could have stated the question differently but I doubt it would have generated a decent response. “TheChosenOne” gave an answer that I was hoping to see. Obviously, to think any college team would sandbag is ridiculous. Think of it as a retardical question. Flame On.

If you come here and light a flame, don't be surprised if you get singed.
