This game is beginning to feel to me like Florida '97.

The consensus of the media and many of the fans is that we had absolutely no chance of winning. The Tigers were on the way back up from the Hallman and Archer days and there was lots of fan excitement overall. This was the Wild West of the tailgating period when there were few rules and motor-homes parked in lot C catercornered from Alex Box. The weather was outstanding and I think that was the wildest tailgate before the game we had in over 20 years.
I got escorted from the stadium for "saluting" the Gator fans as I was on my way back to the motor-home in the second quarter because the party was still going on out there and I just wanted to keep on partying. We watched the rest of it on TV and had a ball all night long that night.
I think this weekend is going to be fun just like that!

Every game we shouldn't win feels like 97 Florida to everyone now.

This is the first game since then that I've had that feeling even though now as well as then I knew we had a good shot at winning.
Even though I feel good after a win and feel bad after a loss my whole world isn't wrapped around a bunch of kids playing football. I love going to the games having been going for almost 50 years. I've always liked the atmosphere surrounding the games with all the excitement and crowds and hootin' and hollerin'. It used to be the several fights during every game that was to be looked forward to. I recall times when no one was watching the game but everyone was craning their neck to get a view of the Deputy's running up the steps and carrying someone out of the stadium - often you could see the blood from all the way across the stadium. I wonder when the last one of those happened. Ask any old-timer about it. It was an every-game occurrence.

I hope it turns into an epic battle like last year's regular season game. We need a few breaks but going for 4th down 5 times and making it will help like '97 Fla. game. We need the Mad Hatter to make a guest appearance. Geaux Tigers!

Umm that was 2007 when we went for all those 4th downs.

It definitely has that feeling. I flew in for the 97 game against Florida and I'll be flying out of L.A. tomorrow morning for this game.

But unlike 97 we match Bama's talent level. We don't have to play the perfect game to win, we just need to play competently on all sides. We were badly out-talented in 97, yet played above ourselves for most of that game.
