Before the economy went into the shitter, there was supposed to be a PF Changs in Covington off of Hwy 21. Anyone heard anything about building one over here? Tired of driving to Metry.

I think driving an hour for PF Changs fits under the "egregious sins" category.

grandmaw likes it and we go several times a year.

Screw the snobs on this board, I like PF Changs. Went the other day and had these Flaming Red Wantons and they were delicious.

I haven't heard of a PF Chang's in the foreseeable future, fwiw.

Firecracker shrimp, no longer on the menu but they'll make it. We go every 3 months or so, wife loves the place.

PF Changs....Chinese food for people who really don't like Chinese food.

I'll gladly go to Dim Sum any day for half the price.

For the love of god, can people come up with a better response than calling people snobs when they don't agree with you on food/drink matters?!!

What would you like? It's inevitable that this national chain is going to get blasted on this board.
The noodle bowl at whole foods blows the noodle bowl/pho at Magasin out of the water by the way.

Mandeville to Pf Chang's is probably a little under 30 minutes. ( I personally wouldn't drive from Mandeville to PFC just to eat there, but just wanted to point out that it isnt even close to an hour)

I've never eaten at one. Always wanted to give it a shot just never have

If it was a simple matter of "don't agree" I would be in agreement with you.
But what happens in any talk about a chain (except Ruth's Chris-for some reason people love that place), it is not a disagreement.
The statements and characterizations are usually, "terrible" "worst food ever" "dining with mouth breathers" "rednecks love it" "it's all Sysco frozen crap" "who the hell could eat that crap" and on an on and on.
I'm not a big chain lover, but people here go after others who like certain chains in ways that are often more personal attacks.
For the record, I am not a PF Changs fan.

I have noticed this as well, but I must say, I do prefer the local mom and pops to chains with just a few exceptions and yes Ruth's is one of them. I try not to let my personal preference affect my recs when someone on here asks though, wish others did the same. I think Pf Changs is decent food but overpriced imho. I am all for another good chinese place coming to the northshore, whether it will be able to compete with Trey Yuen is another matter though.....

I guess I understand where you are coming from.
There are discussions here that def. go off the deep end about bashing any and all chains, but that seems to be pushed by just a few people.
I think the chain bashing generally goes nuts when people bring up bad chains like Red Lobster and Olive Garden.
Bravo, Bonefish Grill, Ruth's, Zea, etc are all pretty well done chains in this area.
It just kind of gets old with drink(especially beer) and restaurant disussions these days when the word snob starts to be the standard responds if they thread or response isn't to your liking.

I blame the OT. Some of the OT lifers BS ways spill over to this board.

It was the economy plus the douchebags in Flowers Estates that killed the initial development. There was supposed to be a Ruths Chris too. Now it's BWW, Steak and Shake, and I believe the future Chinese option there will be a Pei Wei (sp?).
