I havent been able to see any preseason games and didnt go to the open practice (wish I did) but I continually hear Darius Miller could beat out Aminu as a starting 3

Is this really true?

What does he do better than Aminu?

And if it is what can we realistically expect out of him?

he seems to be a better set-shooter...he also seems to have a pretty nice one dribble, pull-up move. he also has the ability to be a pretty good defender, like Aminu.

he doesn't have Aminu's athleticism or as much potential

Guy's shown the ability to knock down 3s and you want him at the bench of the bench with Hakim Warrick and Solomon Alabi?

We need as much offense as we can muster.

He's not as long or potentially disruptive as Aminu on defense, but he should be a decent defender and is already showing he can hit open 3s. Picture a lineup of

Rivers
Gordon
Miller
Anderson
Davis

Rivers running a pick and pop with Anderson while Davis cuts to the basket from the weakside and Gordon and Miller spotted up behind the 3 point line. If Rivers can pass to the open players out of that, that's a pick your poison offense where the defense won't know who to double. Swap out Miller for Aminu and you lose the spacing and the advantage you had over the defense.

Huh? He's progressed very well and he himself isn't slow...

I think alot of guys on here were right when they say that management probably thought that Anderson was going to end up being the starting SF. Monty mentioned it a bit and I think they hoped he could make the transition, even if it was situational. I hope Miller makes some noise though. He was always a chronic under achiever, so maybe this is the shot he was waiting for..
