and you wanted to take a Midwest guy for "good seafood" in BR area, where would it be?...price is no object, but price doesn't affect these guys...a world class poboy or great burger/beer for $10, or Commanders for $200, if it is good, it is good....BTW we will be working in Geismar, clients staying in Gonzales and S.BR....what say you???

You talking lunch or dinner? Houmas house is real fancy for dinner, but lunch is in a different building and the food is very good. Lunch would be from shrimp poboys to nice seafood dishes. Eating at a very nice plantation home is just a bonus.

I think to give them a feel for Louisiana I would take them to Pats in Henderson.

Skip Tommy's. I've been three times and all three times, they have struck out.

No more.

Had a great meal Saturday at LeCreole. Every thing was perfect, atomosphere was great with a pianist and sax, service was excellent, and meal was outstanding.

Lots of La seafood to represent here, had the crab cake and a pecan crusted speckled trout dish. The food was delicious and the preparation was nothing I have ever seen from a BR restaurant. Got a taste of my wife's smoked tomato bisque, wow was that good.

You should consider this in your itinerary, it meets your stated requirements.

Ruffino's is a good spot with a Louisiana take on Italian. I would go to Pairain's well before Mike Anderson's.

There is also a Sammy's in Praireville so avoid Tommy's and head there

Hope this helps

Houma's House, Le Creole are both great options.

There has to be a pretty good po boy place in Gonzalas- just guessing

Mike Andersons is aweful compared to the recs you were given. If he wouldnt be impressed by Jubans, are you saying you dont want to go to an upscale dinner on thursday? If you do not want upscale, you should say that...........

Houmas House, Ruffinos, Le Creole, Louisiana Lagniappe are all upscale. Mansurs, fwiw, have much better chargrilled oysters than MA's. If thats what you are after - sit at the bar and eat.

You will need to get out of the Gonzales area for "good seafood" dishes thursday night.....if by "good seafood" you mean fried seafood platter - go to Mike Andersons in the motel in G-Town and be done with it.

Roberto's is a very solid suggestion for dinner. Its relatively close to G-Town and is a laid back atmosphere.....they have good food.

1 hour lunch? you are gonna be pushing it coming from a plant and trying to get somewhere, ordered, and back in an hour. I would suggest Tommy's - but you cannot make that in an hour.

Take him to Sammy's in Prarieville at 11am or 1pm (not at noon if you want to get in and out).....or to a gas station for boudin and a coke.

Considering you mentioned Commanders....if you are opening up New Orleans to this for thursday dinner.....everything changes......but if you arent going upscale, it wouldnt be worth the drive to NOLA.
