This is surprising. Could be interesting. Louis's not the type to shovel shite just for some ratings.

Damn, I might have to watch.

I'll watch. Even if it's toned down Louis C.K.

He must have some material they agreed to let him do. I bet he's going to write most of the skits.

That is not how it usually works
Guests do bring their own writers in sometimes. Seth macfarland brought in a few that worked at SNL before and now write for family guy. I seriously doubt LCK comes into that situation and tries to control it. I think it will be the opposite, he will be so concerned about looking like an amateur a-hole he will defer to the SNL writers and focus on his performance.
He is not really an actor and he is not a sketch writer. I think he pitches a few sketch ideas like everyone does but I don't see him taking over the production of the show

while in theory, I agree.
Louis CK is also VERY hands on when it comes to his act/material/tv shows and doesn't really like being told what to do.
I think he had probably been asked several times to do SNL and finally relented when they agreed to give him significant creative control over the content

Seth Myers talked about this stuff on his last Bill SImmons podcast when Simmons asked about Macfarland
Myers basically said (paraphrasing) the process is very tight, the show layout is very specific and usually guest hosts are intimidated by the pace of the week, the stressful environment and the magnitude of where they are and what they are about to do
not to mention they are usually too worried about fricking up their performance to try to "take control"
I wonder if Louis CK on SNL is enough to get Chris Rock to come back for a cameo.

That's because they're mostly actors. Don't think a comedy writer like Louis would be intimidated in the same way.

He was the head writer back on the Dana Carvey Show (not to mention stints with Conan, Letterman, and the Chris Rock Show). The guy has written more than his share of sketches.

Did anyone see this? I thought it was pretty disappointing, especially the Zog horn blowing bit.

I only saw a little but I thought the Lincoln as Louie sketch was fantastic mostly because of Lincoln's standup.

You saw the best 6 minutes of the entire episode.

The Fox News sketch was meh, the sketch with him blowing the horn was meh, but I liked the last sketch with him and the chick in the bar. With those two sketches and him doing standup in the monologue no way it could've been the worse ever.
