Was very impressed with Jarvis yesterday. He was the spark that our offense needed and he did it without really making any big plays. He did drop that 1 pass between 2 defenders on the sideline, but if he would of came down with the ball it would of been a hell of a catch. I want more of his attitude on some of our other offensive players. After those PI on him, he was playing pissed and with an attitude where he was going to dominate the guy in front of him, run or pass. On Fords TD run, Jarvis had the key block 20 yards down field that allowed Ford to get in the endzone. Im very glad that we are finally giving him more looks than we did at the beginning of the season. I think hes our best WR, and will only get better.

Also, Mett is looking more and more comfortable back there. I know he had some overthrows on plays that would of been huge for us, but hes missing where you want to miss. Barely overthrowing our WRs, but he puts the ball where the only guy that can get it is the WR. I think hes starting to settle in and hopefully getting over the hump.

I don't think he dropped that. The defender got his hands on the ball.

Overall, Jarvis is having trouble getting separation IMO.

he puts the ball where the only guy that can get it is the turf monster. If he puts air under any of those 10 wide arse open overthrows, they'd at least have a chance to catch it.

I def agree, but at least he isnt trying to force the ball into a window where it will most likely get picked. Hes improving and looking more comfortable back there each game

And as far as his separation is going, he seems to be open whenever we dont send him on a slant or hitch. Every team is looking to take away the slants and hitches because its our go to pass play.

He's not the only one of the "fab five" with this issue

This. I think he has the least issues out of our WRs. Put it this way, I trust Jarvis more than any other WR on the team.

Re: overthrows. He could have thrown the ball anywhere other than where he did on the wide open play to Jacobs. He had room to burn.

I thought the same thing until I saw the replay. He was throwing over Obioha... who has ridiculous hops/wingspan. It was a tough throw.

Jarvis Landry looks slow. If i had to put 3 receivers on the field right now it would be Wright, OBJ and Boone. With OBJ working the slot. But until we get better qb play then it doesn't matter who they throw out there.

the truth...his lack of consistant down field touch is dissapointing. the lob to Kadron Boone was a step in the right direction.

Separation was not the issue yesterday. WRs were wide the frick open, mett overthrew them all

It all goes back to position coaching. If the receivers are not able to get separation, then I think that it is a coaching issue. The "fab five" are all four or five star recruits. With none of them having success, you have to go back to who is doing the developing.

How much separation do you want?

They had the DBs by 2 steps on every deep ball, but mett was too busy aiming the ball instead of throwing.

He's been doing that all season

I would rather they throw to Landry or really Boone, Wright or any of the others rather than Beckham. I have lost faith in him. Drops way too many.

total mindless bullshite....the technique is there, the talent is not.

more bullshite....the one thing the coaches can't teach is speed, and speed or quickness out of the break is what creates separation. none of our "fab five" (lol) are elite athletic receivers.

quote:

With none of them having success,

Boone has come on quite well and Wright has shown promise. OBJ is clearly not an elite/primary receiver. he and Landry are probably better suited for a 5-wide spread where they can feed off of fast bigs clearing space.

bottom line....Mett has to be more precise with his reads and his throws and the targets have to get better at adjusting to the ball and securing the catch. the coaches can't do it for them...the "four and five stars" have to make the plays. the anti-coaching mantra at LSU is nothing but garbage. look at the scoreboard dumbass.
