MLB reviews HRs, implements a wildcard game but chooses not to review close calls which can change the outcome of a playoff game and maybe a series. UMP admitted after game he blew the call.

I agree with everything he said. The Yankees still got shut out though, so it didn't matter. Good thing too because that would've created quite the controversy.

That call didn't affect the outcome though; however, I understand his point.

why didnt it. a 1-0 game is different from a 3-0. players may take a different approach at the plate. if, there is runner on base, the runner may be more or less aggressive, because of the score. the manager may pinch hit with a 1-0 score where as he may not 3-0.

Because this happened to the Yankees, changes will be made. If this had happened to the Brewers, Pirates, Royals, etc in a post-season game it would hardly even get a mention the next day.

How many ignorant people are there in this world. If a call affects the outcome of an inning in which additional runs are scored, how does that not affect the outcome of the game.

Have you ever played in a game where you were down one run, as opposed to three?

He doesn't remember when the Yankees benefitted from a similar call in the 2002 ALCS vs, the Red Sox.

Or Jeffrey Maier for that matter.

Listening to Yankees partisans bitch about missed calls is like Notre Dame fans bitch about the referees. Or Duke fans bitch about missed fouls.

Girardi does make a valid point, but this:

You are correct. Assuming a call in any sport did not affect the outcome based upon how the game ended is the most absurdly overused expression in the world. A one run game is very different than a 3 run game. Getting a bullshite penalty and having to kick a field goal is very different than scoring a TD, etc.

These phrases are always used by people that have never truly competed in sports.

its seriously time for replays in baseball. there's been too many blown calls, i.e. the ruined perfect game a few years back. enough of this pure baseball bullshite.

I hate the Yankees, JG said that play wasn't why they lost, and IDGAF that they didn't score a run.

At the end of the day, he is absolutely right that plays like that SHOULD be reviewable. We have the tech and it doesn't take but 30 seconds for a booth review.

There is no legitimate reason to not have replays in this day and age on plays such as that.

Really? So if it was 1-0 and ARod got the hit. Joe would have run for him. Probably wouldn't have attempted a steal or bunt to get him to 2nd or third? Then a Sac fly and we are tied. Yeah, a 1-0 and 3-0 game are the same.
