Great article by 42 that finally reveals some of the details about FSNO.

Some key points:

quote:

There will be approximately 75 games every season, but there is no `No Game Left Behind’ policy.

All games will be broadcast in 720p.

The full launch will be on October 31st, but there will be a soft launch prior to that.

Anyone who had access to Fox Sports Southwest and is in the Fox Sports New Orleans territory will have access to Fox Sports New Orleans, thus, Hornets games, pending distribution deals.

The Fox Sports New Orleans territory includes parts of Eastern Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida through at least Panama City.

All providers in Louisiana currently carry Fox Sports Southwest, per Mr. Heidtke, and these will carry Fox Sports New Orleans on the same channel your provider currently uses for Fox Sports Southwest, subject to the decisions of distributors.

Fox Sports New Orleans will be available in the New Orleans Area on Cox, Dish, DirecTV, and AT&T. Charter is still being negotiated.

Though branded as Fox Sports New Orleans (so they can talk about the party starting and the like in their marketing), they will cater to Louisiana as a whole and to the Gulf South. For example, they have already signed rights to the Louisiana High School Athletic Association events, such as the football game of the week and the football state championships.

They will work to add Saints, LSU, and SEC coverage.

Fox Sports New Orleans will broadcast Texas Rangers games and Dallas Stars games. Dallas Cowboys dedicated coverage will be available in most of the region, but not in New Orleans due to NFL exclusivity. There will be SEC and C-USA coverage, as well as some Big XII programming available from partners in the Network.

Most sports games are broadcasted in 720p you really cannot tell the difference between 720p and 1080p

I recently switched to Charter recently after dumping them over NFL Network a couple years back.

Um why? I don't really pay attention to baseball but I'd imagine Astros games are probably in more demand in S. La and nobody gives a shite about the Dallas Stars.

If they've got Hornets, Saints, college, and prep programming they won't have any trouble filling airtime during hockey season.

Personally, I'd rather see Atlanta Braves games than Rangers games. I wonder if there was a way they could put a vote out there to see which MLB team they should exclusively show. Especially if Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi are in the viewing area. There is probably more Braves fans that will get this channel than Rangers or Astros fans

Astros are on a different family... Comcast. They just left Fox Sports.

And, the same reason why Hornets game will be shown in the Central Alabama or whatever: open air (as mentioned) turned into advertising dollars.

Stars might be the closest Hockey... then or Preds are closest NHL, then the other, then the Blues I think. Someone can check me.

naw buddy there is still an hour or two of open air time even with those. You can only play so many sportcentury, news, reruns, and paid programming to keep up with ESPN.

On a different note, do you know anything about watching the Astros in Louisiana going forward?
