The youtube is hilarious. Chef Duke of Giovanni posted it on his Facebook page last week sometime. I'd have left it alone.
His site is good for restaurant lists in geographical areas and lists of what's open and when, types of food etc... I don't give his opinions a lot of weight. It's rare that folks don't know who he is when he dines there. I'm surprised the restaurant owner in the youtube starts out by saying they didn't know he was there because that shouldn't matter on food quality.
TF ruffled feathers daily on his messageboard which resulted in constant distractions from the food discussions to bashing him and his having to monitor the board constantly to delete posts and ban people. It finally failed and he shut it down. Then, he started another one and shut that one down. Now, he's started another one which requires that you give him your IRL name, though you can post with a handle. The place is stagnant. He's a nonentity as far as food messageboards go, currently, but his radio show is apparently still successful. It has it's share of "cranks" as he calls them.

He does have great knowledge of food and fine dining. He has a high and respectable level of expectation.
He can be a little over-opinionated. But can't we all?

I never read his message boards, but my mom forwards me his email newsletters all the time. I'm happy with our F&D Board, except for when people post threads about fast food. I think that brings nothing to the table.

He was born in a poor black house in the Treme on Mardi Gras Day on the eve of the biggest hurricane to ever hit NOLA.
He lies about where he went to high school and hasn't lived in NOLA for 30 fricking years. He sucks.

His northshore residency does put him more than a bit out of touch. Don't look to him for cutting edge, new trends, or interesting stuff bubbling up from the proletariat.

No way, he knows too much about fine dining.

Yeah, it was Rummel.
Someone call him today and say you know where the best authentic Italian food can be found in the city.
Better yet, start with him about the spelling of poor-boy vs po-boy.

So that's why he lies about what school he went to. He's still leaps and bounds better than some of the sport talk guys on WWL, although that's not saying a lot.

Bobby Hebert knows as much or more about a "great poor-boy" at Deanie's in Bucktown as Tom Fitzmorris. Not to mention (but here I am mentioning it) I once heard Fitzmorris say he was being pre-empted by a "silly baseball game." It was LSU in a regional baseball game but he felt the public needed to hear him talk about Arnaud's and his free meals there one more time.
He also takes pride in never having gone to a Saints game...even though his wife and kids enjoy Saint's games.
Ummmm, yeah. I guess I'm not a fan.

Who's got a more notable spot in the Hall of Fame display case at the school, Tom or Craig Steltz?

I got to be honest, after watching that video, I tend to believe that Tom Fitz was correct in his assessment
