It's crazy what you can pick up watching a movie multiple times...and its not like Doug Hutchinson acted like any of his other characters that gave this away...
It was like a line of 2 or 3 words that I was like "Man that sounds familiar"...I'm pretty sure its when you first see them and he is chuggin beer while the driver redneck almost smokes those three black boys

Yeah, I had seen the movie a bunch of times and I'm watching it and I notice him. His 5 o'clock shadow threw me the first few times I saw it.

White trash Klan wannabes frick up a young black girl in the Deep South, and your observation is that her father comes off as racist?
You disappoint me, VOR.
You're not one to make logical leaps like that.
Obviously, the rapists were racist and evil.
But doesn't Jackson straight up tell his lawyer that he's the bad guy just because he's white?
The movie just reeks of white guilt to me.

Can't say it isn't under-rated. I know a lot of people that look at me stupid when I say "Yes they deserve to die, and I hope they burn in hell"
Literally every living person should see this movie.

How much baby oil is she wearing?
The correct amount. She was smoking in this movie.

Not exactly. What he's saying is that, no matter his noble intentions, that the lawyer is a white guy in a specific society and will never quite understand Jackson's position or motives when discussing the crime with him. And, intentionally or not, he's part of and participates in that society. BTW, you'll remember at the end that they are having a barbecue and socializing together. If I had been a black guy growing up in a small southern town where things were stacked against me, I'm pretty sure I'd have an attitude. As a matter, of fact, I grew up in a small southern town as a white guy, but witnessed some pretty shitty things that occurred. So, I would not think of Jackson's character as "racist". Pissed off and resentful, sure. But not a racist.

Odd that in Louisiana of all places people say that this movie is a stretch when just in baton rouge that dad got off when he shot the guy who molested his son. Some of his books are crazy but this one is fairly believable aside from maybe the national guard setting up shop.

My favorite scene is the Deputy (Chris Cooper) on the stand.
"Turn him loose!!"

I've never read the book, but if that line is in the book, SJackson was used as a reference to help G write the book

The closing argument of "imagine if she was white" was actually said by one of the jurors in the novel.
Very enjoyable book and movie.

Eh. That makes no sense whatsoever unless the waiters grew up in a majority black part of the country where they were treated like second class citizens and their daughter was raped by a black man. In that case, yes, I could see the comparison.
