On Bill King's show, College Sports on Campus, he has Phil Steele on ever Friday morning. I know Phil Steele gets a lot of hate when he doesn't put LSU at the top of his list ( ), but he actually said something that a lot of people needed to hear that only see box scores.

Bill King asked "So, what about LSU? Did their narrow victory at Auburn worry you?" Phil immediately replied "No." Said that LSU controlled the whole game, outgained Auburn 2:1, and just couldn't perform in the red zone. He also went on to say LSU suddenly looks a lot better than what everyone thought with Washington's upset last night. Said he still has Alabama playing Florida State in the BCSNCG, but LSU will have a very interesting say in that matter and that he's not ruling them out.

It's nice to finally hear Phil say something positive about LSU.

I love his show, because he seems to be the most objective out of any show hosts on XM91, but Bill's commercials are sooooooo annoying. And it doesn't help that I hear those repetitive annoying commercials early in the morning on the way to work.

Bill King is merely one sports guy that hates LSU. they all do and you should know that; hell, even those in louisiana do. and then there's the biggest hater, espn. it's lsu vs the world.

outgained Auburn 2:1

Alot of folks don't realize that... we outgained them by MORE yards than we did last year. We held them to LESS total yards, LESS rushing yards AND LESS passing yards than last year. We gained MORE rushing yards this year. Everything was lopsided but the score... that just happens sometimes.

Before they lost 2 starters on the Oline. One would think that LSU fans could relate with losing 1.. OU lost 2

If Auburn almost beat us at home we'd have to be a lot worse than Bama to lose at home ourselves. FSU won't make it past Florida. Oregon has a better shot. So I'm going LSU vs Oregon.

Phil Steeles big thing he looks at is who wins the yardage battle. LSU has been winning games the past few years where they were either losing the yardage battle, or it was close. Even if we won by 20, the yardage would be close. Because of this, Steele never bought it. Steele would always come on Bill King and go "LSU is only outgaining its opponents by x amount of yardage on this season, and I think it will catch up with them this week."

That was not the case in the Auburn game obviously. We dominated them yardage wise, but the score didn't reflect it. It was kind of the opposite of how we have won games the past few seasons.

Steele is a stat geek and looked at the yardage totals to make his point. I will say after re-watching the game, that we did in fact dominate it but a few factors kept it from looking that way on the scoreboard. I think we will make some adjustments and improve tremendously following that game.
