Its sad to see such a talented RB get wasted.

He's the kind of RB that you need to keep giving the ball too. He's a rhythm runner. Keep giving him the ball and he'll start to gain chunks of yards.

It's just so obvious what were doing with Ingram in the game and I think that's a main problem because when you compare the blocking Ingram gets to Pierre/Sproles it's not even close

I feel bad everytime he takes a carry from PT, Ivory, and Sproles

Ivory, when healthy, has been a punishing running back. Ingram, unfortunately, has been nothing

Everyone wanted a running back at the time. Reggie Bush was always hurt, PT got hurt, Ivory got hurt, Wells got hurt. We were down to our 6th string running back

Dude sucks. Everyone knew he was gonna be a bust when he was drafted except saints and gumps.

Majority of saints fans can now admit this. Gumps still want to blame the saints.

I think he is good, and is a work load back. If you only bring him in on short yardage up the middle plays, then it get really easy to defend him.

it didnt work with Heisman winning Danny Weurfell and its not working with Mark Ingram. At least Reggie did a lil something for us unlike the other two.

Ingram may never live up to his draft status, but the way he is being used he's not even being given a fair chance. I'm not buying the "he needs the ball a lot to get a rhythm" excuse, but you do need to not make it obvious that you're running every time he's in the game.

He's good for 2 yards and that's it. I spill my scotch in the rare occasions he makes it past the line of scrimmage.

Kinda like Reggie huh? Cept he goes to Miami and was a 1,000 yd rusher last year and was on his way to doing it again this year.

yep. Everytime he comes in we run it. Absolutely zero mystery when he is in the game.

I remember Alabama used him for screens a lot, but for some reason we are no longer a screen running team

Reggie was never a bust with the Saints, just injury prone. He was playing great in 2008 before his injury

He's hurt again btw

This - Everyone knows when Ingram is in that he is running it right up the gut. You know, I know, you bet your arse the other teams knows.

You're on to a big part of the problem here. Everytime he comes in, it's a rush between the tackles. I can't remember the last time I saw some PA out of that package. Of course he can't do much, there are five big guys in the other color clogging the rushing lanes.

I will say though he does need more carries. He isn't a homerun hitter, he is a workhorse of a back. His talent at Alabama was about seeing the right hole and attacking. It takes sustained rushes for those holes to really start opening up. This isn't Alabama, where they were open to begin the game and wider by the end. If we don't plan to give him his carries, he's wasting a roster spot.

I said from the start that this was one of the saints worst moves since the Payton era. Our offense has always been 3 running backs or more all day long. So we give up a draft pick for the so called "emmitt smith clone", Ingram nice guy, but couldn't carry Emitts jock strap!!

We never should have moved up to take him along with giving up a draft pick, we could have used that pick on a DL or CB.

We are not a run heavy offense. Right now we should only be running P. Thomas and Sproles, if one gets dinged then Ingram and Cadet should share some touches, until one out shines the other. He needs fifty carries a game to break 100 yards in a game, with his 2 yards and a cloud of dust. Joique Bell was a better back than Ingram, in my opinion.

I know, but if Ingram was the pass blocker Thomas is there would not be the need for PT. He'd get enough touches. We ran the ball well last year, it just generally was on the tail end of the passing game hanging up 30 in a half.

He isn't a battering ram of a back, he makes good cuts. You do hint on another one the issues lowering his production though, he is used as if he is a battering ram.

Considering the situation now, yes Ingram was a waste of a pick. I do wonder though what is role will be and how he'll look four or five years down the road. I'm not expecting him to produce enough to warrant the first round pick or anything, but he could find his niche in this offense.
