I've got a Stihl weed eater and I'm about to burn it! About every other time I use it I can't get it started. It will start but when I rev it up, dies right away. Any help would be awesome! Just went get a new bottle of round up. To hell with the weed eater!!

don't put but a little bit of seafoam in it..
Rev up and turn choke on and off a few times. this may pull the trash through.
if this doesn't work you will have to clean the Carb. or replace Carb they're only bout 35$

I have an 05 800 Sportsman, I think the solenoid switch is bad because it starts clicking real loud when I try to crank. The battery is showing 13 volts . Anything I should try or check. I AM NOT a mechanic

Same here I'm not a mechanic by any means and if I bring to the shop it's over a hundred when I walk in the door

use a screwdriver and touch the two big post on top of solenoid together. this will bypass the solenoid and send power straight to starter. if it spins over than its the solenoid if it doesn't it's the starter. use DB electrical to but either.

I'll give you $25 and a case of Miller lite for it.

sounds to me like either trash in the fuel system or an air leak...check all of the plastic for air leaks (sucking air)...particularly the little pump bulb...also, look to see if you have a fuel filter either in line or on the end of the fuel pickup line...
if you have been burning ethanol in it, that may be the problem as well...get some fuel treatment and run a dose through it...then either use ethanol free gas or at least put some stabil in the fuel...

Unfortunately I have been using ethanol gas in it. I know better now. Could that be the problem?

yeah, that could be it...but most of them start giving you problems at that age regardless due to the plastic parts...
trouble with ethanol is that it attracts water and when the water falls out in the bottom of the tank, it just screws up the works...
look it over good and if you don't see anything obvously wrong (i.e. clogged filters, cracked plastic, etc.) just try emptying the tank completely out and putting fresh fuel with a good strong dose of with stabilizer for ethanol in it...if you can get it cranked, run the shite out of it (two cycle engines should always be run at high rpm anyway)...
if that works, be sure to clean out and do the same to your gas can...or get a new one...
if none of that works, it is carb rebuild time...

don't skimp on your oil- use the stihl synthetic
add ethanol additive
over the winter use stabilizer and before you put her to bed for the winter run all the gas out

If you need a starter or solenoid, use DB electrical. google it or I can give you there number. Polaris starters are like $40 and are a good starter. probably used DB a 1000 times never had a problem.

I have a stihl stick edger and it does the same damned thing. Had the carb cleaned recently, use non ethanol gas and add seafoam.
If u look on popular mechanics website, they state that the stihl is a great engine but is by far the hardest to get running.
That said, I am going to destroy mine and go buy an echo. I will never buy another stihl product.

Probably the fuel line is broken inside the gas tank where it connects to the fuel filter.

Check the muffler or the spark arrestor.
