Talked to a park ranger there Friday evening and he told us the park may open to limited use in 8 weeks. He said he was not even sure of that. They had 12 foot of water. Cabins destroyed, board walk destroyed, and the campgrounds had heavy damage from the water.
No tree damage though.
This sucks. We went there to map out a camping spot. We love to camp there in the fall. The kids have so much room to run around to do things. We bring the TV for the LSU and Saints games. Friends show up. Such a great place close to home to enjoy. Maybe next year.

I would say try bogue chitto but I'm sure it's closed too, or atleast the cabins are. They get water in them with a good rain

I'll never understand why they built those cabins the way they did. What'd they think was going to happen when another hurricane came.

I called Bogue Chitto state park last friday. They said it would be at least a month before they got everything cleaned up. If these cold fronts keep coming its gonna be a nice fall to go camping if you can find a spot.

Closed as well. Not sure when it'll re-open.

That sucks.
Wish they could at least open it to fishing, hiking and primitive camping.

this sucks...we always camp at Fairview the weekend of/before halloween...great family place for the kids for Halloween...La CRT website says Reserve America will contact those whose reservations are affected...we still haven't heard anything, so maybe it will be cleaned up by then.

Go to Chicot. They already have tvs in their cabins and Direct TV.

Hate to hear this. I wonder where the monies will come from to make the necessary repairs? The state has drastically tightened their budget as of late. Did Bobby J have a contingency plan for the state parks?
