Mettenberger's completing about 72% of his passes this year.

I feel like this is a big deal. He's been efficient. Made mistakes, but still.

He looks more comfortable each game. He just needs to not force it in the red zone.

Other than the 2 red zone interceptions he has been solid this year

hes been throwing some great 10 yd out routes and some pretty nice deep balls.

and hey, he even ran the option to the short side of the field!

His picks are from forcing throws. It's not that they are bad throws just that they are in very well protected areas.

He isn't throwing them scared either. He's just slinging it tryi to do more than he should.

Lee and Jefferson threw interceptions for fear of being sacked (lee more than Jefferson)

he's making a few mental mistakes like delay of game and staring down a few receivers

all things that can be fixed with good coaching

Mett certainly has no issue taking a shot. He doesn't shy away from contact.

looked like he looked off the safety, turned, and threw without getting a good look at the coverage on that side. it was a designed play he knew he was going to go to OBJ before the snap.

that will get ironed out by next week.

His accuracy on deep passes is astounding, really. When they push it downfield he's been excellent so far. That'd always been his rep but you kind of have to see it in game to really appreciate it

Hmmm, our coaches never fixed that in the past

I'm not jumping the gun but LSU wins NC's with efficient qb's.

EXACTLY

Mauck and Flynn didn't turn it over but didn't light the scoreboard up. 2 Smart, efficient QBs. 2 NCs. Simple math.

The thing about mettenberger is that he's world's more talented than either of those guys, too. He's still far from reaching his ceiling imo.

There was one play late in the game when he stood in the pocket until the last possible second as an unblocked defender ran directly at him and he threw a strike to Landry before getting laid out. If you have a quarterback who can do that, you are in pretty good shape. We have not had that for at least 4 years. Everything else can be ironed out, imo, except that. Either you have the balls to stand in the pocket and take a hit or you don't.
