Question For Saints Fans Who Made the Miami Super Bowl Trip

I'm looking at booking hotels for the BCS National Championship Game (just in case).
It looks like there are hundreds of hotels in Miami and the stadium is removed from the downtown & beach areas.
Where did fans congregate? Where is the most affordable location to book and still be close to the fun?

everyone hung out on ocean drive at night. the Clevelander bar was the Saints hangout. expensive as frick for drinks but the trim walking around that place was unreal.
we stayed at the holiday inn. It was not on the beach it was on the bay before you cross over into the ocean drive south beach area. very nice hotel but very pricey bc it was SB44 weekend.
be prepared to spend money.

I wasn't there for the SB, but went to Miami last year & stayed on Ocean Dr. Everything is ridiculously expensive. Maybe even more so than NYC.

Look at the Fort Lauderdale area. It's actually closer to the stadium and hotels are much cheaper.

we found extremely reasonable rates at what we thought was going to be a dump....but turned out pretty nice
the name of the place was The Dorchester. It was on Collins Ave(A1A)
