A co-worker wants to go there for her retirment dinner with the office (approximately 12-15 people). It's one of several places being considered, but she keeps bringing it up again.

IMO, the menu doesn't seem too extensive, and the prices are a bit higher than other restaurants with better reputations.

I was just wondering what others thought about Ralph's on the Park.

One of my favorite restaurants in NOLA. Personally, I've never had a bad meal there.

Best was my rehearsal dinner in one of the top rooms over looking the park. Couldn't have been more perfect. Guess I'll always have a soft spot for Ralph's

As far as restaurants go, Ralph's is an also ran. As far as places for group dinners, I dont think anyone does a better job. Seriously.

Get a room upstairs, start with drinks on the balcony, and then enjoy a very good dinner inside.

I don't think there's much reason to go there for a regular dinner, much less a retirement party.

I've always had better meals at their group dinners than the two times I went to a regular table.

I have been for dinner, brunch and a private party. The private party was upstairs in one of the private rooms. The food and drinks were good and it had a nice atmosphere. Brunch was good but not as good as other places in the city. Dinner was okay.

Thanks, everybody. I'm trying to subtly influence her decision to choose a different place, but if we end up going to Ralph's, I will suggest the party room upstairs.

It's a damn pretty place and the food will be far from terrible -- for something like that.

Would I put it in the top 10 or even top 25 restaurants in town? No. However, I certainly wouldn't say it's the type of place over which I would get worked up for one second if someone suggested holding a co-worker's retirement party there.

Unless, you are paying and/or have some part in calling the shots here, I'd just go with it, if I were you. Even then, I don't think I'd worry about it.

Been there 3X and all were outstanding.

What are the other options under consideration?

Commander's Palace, Pelican Club, K-Paul's, Borgne, G.W. Fin's, Ruth's Chris, and NOLA.

Ralph's was good once when I went 4-5 years ago. Went back another time it was bad. Could be the chef they use now.
