NFC looked like the Niners to me, D is very solid and their passing game looks a lot better now. 2nd team would be Dallas, (a little biased) secondary looks like maybe the top of the league and if they can get the O-line together will be very scary IMO.

AFC would have to be the Pats or Texans to me, ill go with the Texans because they rolled after a slow 1st quarter and the D looked stout... although it was against the Dolphins.

Without getting too caught up in week 1 hype, I like:

NFC:

- 49ers
- Bears

AFC:

- Patriots
- Texans

Cowboys looked impressive in the opener, but I want to see more out of their D first. Packers and Saints are going to score a ton of points but be weak defensively.

The Broncos and Ravens (without seeing them play) are probably my next two contenders in the AFC.

1. 49ers
2. Pats
3. Bears
4. Texans
5. Broncos/Ravens

seeing how the past two NFC represenatives got hot at the end of the season, I'm not putting much stock into week 1.

Bears

They did look pretty good although it was against the Colts, Brandon Marshall just may have been that missing link.

It's for fun man, also is this the only answer Saints fans are going to say in here?

I liked the Bears a lot last year before the injury bug bit them. They have a really solid defense, a great running game, and a good passing game. The offense is significantly better with Bush and Marshall.

I expect the Bears to win the NFC North

Could be, or at the very least grab a wild card because the Lions sure didn't look legit and to an extent neither did the Packers. Though I will cut them some slack because I think the Niners are just that good.

nah, I don't really expect us to make a deep run this year (nor did I before this week). But like he said look at recent history. Steelers win SB over Seattle after getting hot(I think they were 9-7), Arizona goes to the SB with like a 9-7 record I think, Green Bay barely gets in and wins the whole thing, Jets make multiple runs to AFC title game with average records, NYG who looked horrific many times last year get hot and go win the whole thing including on the road against a 13-3 and 15-1 team, then beat the patriots (2nd time doing this as a marginal playoff team in 5 years).

It is a very long season.

ok. the 49ers looked really good. Alex Smith looked okay but they still have some protection issues. David Akers is an excellent kicker. Their defense looked just as tough as it did last year.

The Falcons won a road game outdoors for the first time ever under Mike Smith in the month of September Matt Ryan played pretty well but they beat up on a defense who was missing key personnel.

In the AFC, I'd still like to see what the Ravens will do tonight. Cincy should give them a run for their money.

I was surprised the Jets dropped 48 on Buffalo, thought the Bills were gonna come out and play better than that.

After watching the Skins, I'd consider them a threat. Not really a dark horse any more. RGIII is a good player already, especially since Shanny calls lots of easy passes for him. Teams are going to have to account for his legs on every play, because he can always pull it down and get 7-8 yards. Not to mention their D is legit.

The Niners are an obvious pick for the NFC but we'll see how they do when a decent run defending team takes away Smith's short options and forces him to throw deep. The Bears are probably good enough to do this. Cutler probably didn't take his insulin til the 2nd Q yesterday because he started off shite and got much better.

Niners should still waltz through the NFC west though.

As for the AFC, the Pats are looking like a strong favourite, I wonder if the Broncos can take them? I don't see the Jets being for real, but we'll see.
