SUGAR LAND, TEXAS - 50-year-old Roger Clemens may no longer be unhittable, but he can still sit batters down just the same.
Clemens cruised through his second professional start in two weeks, pitching 4 2/3 scoreless innings for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League.
He left to a standing ovation with the Skeeters leading the Long Island Ducks 3-0.
Clemens, arguably one of the greatest pitchers of all time, got off to a quick start, pitching a 1-2-3 first, needing only 12 pitches to retire the Ducks.
He remained solid throughout a 54-pitch outing that also tested his defensive skills a couple of times. He threw 33 strikes, fanning one and walking none.
His fastest pitch was clocked at 88 miles per hour, and he hit 86-87 mph regularly.
His catcher: Koby Clemens.
