Oh, in case you missed the question- who [u]allegedly on the FB team received benefits while on probation? WHo?

If I was a USC fan, I'd be less concerned with the timing of these things and more with is it actually true.

I did not say or imply that was of greater concern to me. I am merely pointing out the fail

What about the fact a player was receiving benefits while on probation?
No, there was no reason to sweep this under the rug -
who allegedly on the FB team received benefits while on probation? WHo?
Your post is full of fail

+1 I didn't realize we were on probation in 09

The real issue is tha USC said they investigated this and found nothing. How does a school investigate itself? Especially USC who has been on some sort of probation every decade since the 60's. It's a complete joke. They are on probation yet Silas Redd can transfer in. Blame the NCAA these type of things.

We may cheat, everybody does. But we don't cheat on the level of USC, bama, auburn or Clemson. They are so blatant it's ridiculous. I am afraid they have been given a free pass. Meanwhile, the sec and NCAA is investigating miss state

Yeah...so blatant (this is what USC does, hires wanna be sports agents to lure their star athletes away from USC) by keeping it hidden from the coaching staff to result in a 4 year investigation which yields the sum total of a one sentence allegation from a convicted felon.)

USC needs serious help in "cheating" if the Reggie Bush case is deemed advantageous by the program.

I think one of the reasons USC is out of the cheating business is that we're not very good at it.

There's no way we would have come out unscathed in a Cam Newton or T-Town Mens Wear situation. This McKnight / car thing is not new news though. The only thing that's new is Schenter's e-mails, and that's because he decided (motivation?) to bring his misdeeds to light.

Could be wrong, but I believe this was from a public records request of his e-mails.

At any rate, here's the LINK to the e-mails.

From Schenter's notes, it seems Jefferson got paid, McKnight got paid, but what stands out in the e-mails is the fact that he was in contact with USC's compliance dept. about what he wanted to do, and was denied permission. Also dead obvious he was a Husky fan, and had interest in gaining access to USC (and possibly other school's) athletes to further his own business agenda.

USC will always have this problem...and frankly can't build a fence around their program...they're not in Baton Rouge or Tuscaloosa or Norman or Eugene...they're in Los Angeles...business/entertainment capital...and home to everyone who is trying to make a buck and become a big shot.

It's a unique situation in college football and the NCAA is out of their mind treating USC like any other podunk college-town U. when it comes to expectations for compliance.

For USC to be considered a re-peat o-fender, the McKnight car thing would have had to happen AFTER the penalties were dished out to USC. Haters gonna hate that.

Oh you couldn't be more wrong, but what else to expect from you..

Yes, because no other D1 team is located near a major metroplex. Do you have any idea how big of a town Austin is? It's not podunk, and UT is one of the biggest programs in the nation. Miami, Houston, Rice, Maryland, and Georgia Tech are all in major metro areas. Hell, Notre Dame is just outside of Chicago and the Detroit press covers Michigan.

Not every program is like Alabama. There is NOTHING unique about USC's situation.

They are not very good at it but continue to do it. On probation in the 60's,70's, 80's, 90's, and 2000's. At least they are consistent.

Man some of you guys are really blinded by hate for USC. This guy Scott Schenter, the supplier or illegal benefits, is Washington Huskies fan. There are emails from him saying he hopes USC gets in trouble for this:

"I am just finishing a USC Basketball Bus (notice, basketball) because I have direct access to a couple of the players (nothing on paper). I just finished talking with the compliance department because I am going to put gigantic posters of OJ Mayo (the new Lebron) and Davon Jefferson on vinyl wrapped on the bus. Also, I would showcase these Lights…USC said no, it was against NCAA rules. What are they going to do, put them on probation? Good! I offered my Husky van to Tyrone Willingham and he sent me a letter back declining (Neuheisel would have accepted in a second). No wonder we [Washington] are 0-8. USC (not under Scott’s Control) said that you couldn’t put pictures of any player on my bus. What are they going to do to me? Will the NCAA fine me (yeah right)?Oregon has billboards in Time Square of current players. They have trading cards of OJ Mayo in high school. I am going to do this. They or the NCAA have no authority over me. I can put what I want on my bus. How come a magazine can put them on a cover but I can’t put a picture on a bus? Maybe I will put pictures of them from high school (OJ Mayo played for the Trojans) or I will put OJ on one side and a MAYO ad on the other (hmm, I think I will sell that). Maybe I will advertise the Mayo clinic! Just think of the publicity or Probation USC, not a bad choice. I will need an attorney! USC sucks!"

But go ahead and cry about SC cheating. How does any of this benefit SC? What advantage could these things possible bring to SC's performance on the field or in the classroom? Im not gonna lose any sleep over whatever "Boo Hoo Baloo" and the rest of these crybabies think.

I didn't say one word about SC's alleged guilt. I just said SC is not the only program in a major metro area, and it's false to state they are.

I don't hate USC -- I hate the USC trolls who clog up our board. Which is totally different. I didn't even read the article referenced in the OP and I've wasted no brain cells on the allegations.

I just call out you USC trolls when you say something untrue or inflammatory. Which is often, admittedly. But that's not about USC. It's about why I think you suck, not USC.

But I'm flattered that you think so much of my opinion that you would reference me by name (and even give me a nickname!) when I literally made no comment about this "scandal". It says a lot.

Well then I apologize, Baloo. I lumped you in with "USC are cheeterz!!1!1'!" crowd, and I retract that. But please don't lump me in with the trolls. Feel free to go through my post history; I will defend SC but I come here for sports/movie info, not to stir shite up.

No problems. I have no desire to go through your post history, so I take your word on it. I tend to address arguments, not people. Usually, I don't even look who is posting something.
