Headed there for anniversary tonight, what do y'all recommend?

It's open, called and talked to them earlier. I normally get the red fish looking for something different, I think.

Chargrilled oysters and ask what the visiting fish is. I had a great special there with the visiting fish.

And ETA: Ditto on the oysters. They don't get any better than those.

It is visiting fish as its here today and usually gone tomorrow. Have redfish and mangrove snapper last I checked plus some stone bass (limited amount, might be out). All of our seafood vendors weren't running today and can't get trucks til Thursday.
But yeah my recs are:
Apps: chargrilled oysters (best in the city) and either the eggrolls or seafood mushrooms
Soup du jour is corn and crab chowder (really good)
Entree: hit up the snapper for fish or maybe the veal Oscar
Hope y'all enjoy and happy anniversary. Cheers!

I had haddock when I last had the visiting fish and it was outstanding.
I don't care for the seafood stuffed mushrooms. They were pretty meh, to me. Sort of mushed up seafood. No crab lumps.

Yeah it's a seafood stuffing not a lump crab stuffing. I personally love their flavor but if you expecting chunks of crab meat that wouldn't be found. The eggrolls on the other hand are something I constantly crave.

Many moons ago, Ralph and Kacoo's had great crab and shrimp stuffed mushrooms in a wine and butter sauce. I only use good chunks of shrimp, jumbo lump and large mushrooms for mine.

anyone try any of the steaks there?

I tasted someone else's filet once. It was fine, but nothing spectacular. I prefer the fish dishes.

I've never been to one in Metairie. I went to one on Airline Hwy, I think. I sort of follow that recipe when I make them.
You got enough moonshine for Isaac?

I'm good, too. I figure we can all drink and sleep through the bad stuff. I'm not big on high winds.

you got plenty of tonic to go with that Pine Sol?

Posted on 8/27/12 at 8:52 pm to Ole Geauxt
I have a good bit, they were out of tonic, period where we went. People are stocking up like it's the end of the world. "Filling stations" are out of gas and you can't find water or bread. I already had plenty of that, thankfully. Liquor store was packed. Priorities.
