6. grimes- oblivion
7. lower dens- brains
9. chairlift- amanaemonesia
3. japandroids- the house that heaven built

Now, I have to ask, did you perchance get a hold of my best of 2012 mix tape.

All of these songs were on it, well I actually swapped out the japandroids song b.c it didn't meet the flow of the album.

Tame Impala - Elephant and Django Django - Default were also on it, as was Chromatics - Kill for Love and Frankie Rose - Interstella

Cloud nothings would have been on it BUT it didn't fit in the flow.

Should we just make one massive list of songs we enjoyed from the year of 2012?

Then your flow was INVALID!

Sorry, Wasted Days and No Future/No Past is such an epic one-two punch. I listen to that opening over and over. I just love it.

I understand. I had to squeeze in Japandroids, as the rest of it is not that rocky.

I make mix tapes (Your dj aint no dj, he just makes mix tapes), and I pride myself on flow, and transitions. And cloud nothings just doesn't work with the rest of the mix (draft below). Wasted days is entirely too long, and No Future/no past is just a little too loud. I do really like wasted days tho. And man were cloud nothings good live. Plus my wife hates them, and her friends are getting it too.

Continuous Thunder - Japandroids
Default - Django Django
Elephant - Tame Impala
Oblivion - Grimes
Kill for Love - Chromatics
Neighborhood Watch - Memory Tapes
Interstellar - Frankie Rose
Monoliths - Lotus Plaza
Brains - Lower Dens

Sometimes I have to make sacrifices for my art.

And I had to alter my track selection too, like Japandroids song is not my favorite but it works wiht the flow. Same for frankie rose, although I could have inserted any of her stuff in there.

if anyone would like a copy of the mix tape, leave your email and I will send it. I do upload it to a server for easy downloading.

Yeah, if I were making a mix tape, I would either close with Wasted Days because you really can't play off of that and a good long song is a good closer. Or I'd use Fall In instead. Snappy, upbeat number which is a good intro to the band without having the problems of the more experimental stuff.

I make a year end mix every year, too. I wait until after Xmas usually. Titus Andronicus just messes up my playlist every year... damn your 10 minute songs!

I try avoid long songs on my mix tapes. And anything that isn't accessible, which unfortunately is like half my library. I really love 10-15 minute songs wihtout lyrics. The rest of the population, not so much.

I will actually make mine over a month, won't release it until mid jan. The end of the year is just such an accumulation of music, that i have to ease into it. I start it in early dec. I take this very seriously. Some years, we do cover art and liner notes, and mail them out. But not that this year.

I would love to get a copy of yours, assuming its all digital. I don't frick with physical medium these days.

Sure. I'd love to see yours as well.

I start mentally making it around Thanksgiving, but I tend to sit down and just actually do the labor come January 1st. I already know what's gonna be on it, by that point. I just have to do it. No cover art though, cuz I suck at graphics.

I suck at it too. When I upload it, I will let you know.

I am going to need an email address though, as I won't post it here. I will be happy to host yours too, I do pay for the server rentail each month and don't come close to UL/DL, or disk space.

Couple of my favorite tunes of the year... my memory and laziness get in the way of a comprehensive list...

Bob Mould - Descent

Parquet Courts - Stoned and Starving

Nude Beach - Walkin' Down My Street

Sweet!

I'm with you on long songs. I sometimes will include one as a closer, but I try to limit myself to 70 minutes or so (the run time of a CD), so some opus just takes up too much space.
