Staunch WR blocking - old D Bowe video

Sorry for the random post, but I'm so jacked up for the season to start and watching these hype videos made me think of this.
Ever since M Clayton we've had strong tenacious WR blocking. I'm sure it will continue under Henry.
Watching these hype videos with all these iconic plays made me think of this clip from D Bowe. Sorry for the quality.

Bowe was a badass for sure. My favorite play of his is in the Auburn game in..06? When they're driving down the field at the end and he catches the ball with like 8 seconds left, bounces off of 3 or 4 guys who get clean shots on him and gets out of bounds.
Dude was ridiculous.

He would have made an incredible safety and probably a passable linebacker. A complete football player, once he got his vision issues worked out. Probably didn't have the best top end speed and didn't always have great hands - how much of that was his vision remains debatable - but had a great combination of size, speed, strength, ball skills, clutch playmaking, big playmaking, etc.
It is hard to pick a favorite WR over the past 10 to 12 years, as I like Clayton, Reed, Buster, Dev, OBJ, and others, but Bowe is still way up there.

Awesome play. I think the clocked would've run out had he not gotten out of bounds.

WR blocking was terrible under Billy Gonzales.

Maybe regressed some, but not terrible. I think LSU puts more emphasis on WR blocking than most teams do.

Regarding WR blocking, any dropoff in that area could have something to do with LSU not having quite the personnel in that category. Clayton and Bowe are two of the best blocking WR's I recall seeing in college and I also remember EArly being pretty good, as well. Some tough acts to follow.

Jarvis Landry understands your comments apply from the time Bowe went to the NFL until last year.

Does he ever. If you watch in the Arky '11 game, 1st half, 2nd qtr, play to the right near mid-field - JL drives his man about 10 yds. Just a beautiful block.

He's a shockingly physical for a player a shade over 6' and a shade under 200 pounds.

What about Lafell rearranging that guys helmet against State in 07

"Jarvis Landry understands"
Amen to that. I did forget about him, perhaps because he just hasn't done it as much or been around as long. I have to admit that I don't recall his blocking so much as his one-man special teams assault raids. Unbelievably hard hitter.

I remember the block he had against Arky. He just destroyed a dude (think it was an LB too).

Blocks not just one but two or more guys to help the runner out. Awesome. There are some special teams clips of him on kickoff's that are pretty cool too.

Definitely, I remember that one.
James Wright and Armand Williams have some potential as big blocking WRs too.

Second favorite to the Arky game when it was 3rd and long, catches a jailbreak screen, at almost the first down marker he levels a LB and spins off, picking up the first down.
eta- Which is actually in the video now that I watched it

I love when we have a receiver on the kick off team going down field making demoralizing hits on returners. Last year Jarvis Landry back to back huge hits on kick off against Auburn was awesome. It really reminded me of Michael Clayton, and how seriously he took his opportunities to make big plays on special teams.

Not just this, Lafell was a great blocker all around. That's how you earn your snaps for Miles as a WR.
Also, James Wright is a terrific blocker.
