I live in a studio. I cook a couple times a week but I don't want the smell to get into all my crap (bed, clothes, etc).
Does anybody have any tips on how to get rid of the smell?
I tried the cup of vinegar and I light candles. Anything else I can try besides febreezing my whole room? Any suggestions will help. TIA!

I cook with all of my windows open. My kitchen/living room is an upstairs corner room with 4 windows though.

I keep the A/C running, fan on and light a candle after. Never have a problem with the smell lingering.

Thanks Rohan.
I have 2 windows and I opened it last night but it still stays. i have the ac running too. I need to get more candles.
Kind of sucks though b/c it's a studio and my bed is like 10 feet from my kitchen. I need to get a fan. I probably should have opened the windows before I left for work this morning.

Bake a loaf of bread, that could make a morgue smell great.

You are welcome. What exactly were you cooking? Like BlackenedOut implied, a lot of food can make your home smell really good. I air mine out when I cook a steak on the stove or something else that smokes/flares up a lot.

Ah the good ol' days.

Wouldn't leave my windows open all day during the New Orleans summer.

well..
i made spaghetti.. it smells good but I dont like my clothes and stuff smelling like it.

I'm waiting to get a dutch oven to bake a loaf of bread lol.

yea I did last time and it got the smell out a lil bit but it's too humid. plus i'm scared of bugs getting in haha. i have bars on the windows so someone can't really break in.

I'm no physicist, but I didn't even think this was really all that probable. Unless you're in a fricking Subway or something similarly terrible smelling.

It's kind of like going to eat at a asian place, you leave smelling like it.

I think the food smells good when I'm cooking it but it can seep into my clothes and stuff. haha

I do live in a old home on the first floor with a window unit. I probably need to crank that thing on full blast when I cook. I already keep it cold.

Guess I've just never heard of or had a personal problem in a home.

Be careful with the plug in air fresheners.mthey are prone to overheat and catch fire.

I like to roast garlic slow in my oven so my house smells Italian.

I've never had that issue, but my clothes aren't close to the kitchen and I have a strong exhaust fan. I know someone who will not cook gumbo in her house because of the lingering smell. Won't cook other things inside either. I'm surprised she doesn't have an outhouse.

well its a old home and b/c of the lack of central ac its kind of humid when i get home but not too bad. it doesn't get too hot inside.

I honestly love it but I guess I've never had to deal with such a small space or a window unit.

I need to get more air fresheners and have a fan on when I'm at work.

Maybe I should bake a cake instead of the Italian thing for me.
I cook alot of green curry and red curry and it smells wonderful when I'm making it.. but it doesn't bode well for the clothes.

On my list for my next house is one of those kick arse commercial exhaust fans. I am so fricking tired of my wife spraying chemicals in the air and lighting candles when I cook.

i like the smell when i cook but it can get into clothing and fabric, which i do not like. like i said, my studio isn't the biggest space so i would rather my clothes not to smell like spaghetti sauce.
