Harper is experiencing growing pains, which is to be expected from a 19-year-old. His first year in the minors was impressive, but he struggled this year before getting called up. He certainly has the talent and work ethic to quickly ascend into the upper tier of players. He'll benefit from batting around Zimmerman, Desmond and Rendon if he can stay healthy.

Upton, who was also called up at 19, already has 25/20 and 30/20 years under his belt, but is having a down year likely because of an injured wrist. Nagging injuries have been a problem for him and he's likely to be traded this offseason, which could improve his situation.

Both were No. 1 picks and came up with lots of hype, though nobody in recent memory has been as hyped as Harper.

Im going to have to go with Harper on this one...I think he has a lot more help around him in the lineup which will benefit him in the years to come.

Is he really likely to be traded? I've heard its a possibility, but didnt know it was likely. I'd hold on to Upton if his problems this season are related to injuries and the D'backs think he'll return to his 2011 form. With the numbers he's putting up this season I would imagine his trade value is way down.

Why do people assume Upton being traded will help? He is a better hitter at home than on road, so you better hope he gets traded to a hitters park. Over past 3 seasons he has hit .308 at home and .268 on road, with .540 slugging at home vs .468 on road

Next few years

Depends on how many years here. I will go with Upton, since he is 24. Upton will be in his prime in the next few years, while Harper will be still be just getting better, but seems to have the higher ceiling.
