Pitchers Using Steroids?

Thanks to the steroid era of homeruns, today anytime a player starts hitting homeruns at a late age, or hits 50+ homeruns, we as a society automatically assume that they could be using PED's. Conversely, there have been 23 perfect game no hitters in the history of baseball. Out of those 23, 12 have been during that very same "steroid era". 6 have come since 2009 alone.
Mark Buehrle 2009
Dallas Braden 2010
Roy Halladay 2010
Philip Humber 2012
Matt Cain 2012
Felix Hernandez 2012
Philip Humber and Dallas Braden??? If a player like Kasey Kotchman were to come out of nowhere and hit 55 home runs, we would be all over him for steroids. So, my question is why isnt there a bigger discussion of pitchers using steroids? It seems suspicious to me. Thoughts?

I could pitch vs the Mariners lineup, and half those guys are pretty frickin legit.

Pitching a perfect game is akin to hitting 4 HRs in one game. It's not similar to a 55 HR season.
If Kotchman had a 4 HR game and was mediocre the rest of the year (Braden/Humber), people would draw it up to an awesomely lucky performance and not steroids.
1 game sample size =/= full season

But it still doesnt answer the double standard. Miguel Cabrerra and Josh Hamilton are pretty legit too, but if either one of them ever hit 60 homeruns, the world will assume they are dirty. Why cant we use that same logic for pitchers?

A perfect game is ONE game. Humber and Braden continued sucking afterwards. Hitting 55 HR's is excellence for an entire season.

No way, if thats the case then there would be more then just 23 perfect game no hitters. Before 2009 there were just 17 perfect games over a 100 year period. Now its just common. Something doesnt add up to me.

This is why i have an issue when people wanna question bonds hr record. Im sure A LOT of those pitchers were juicing too.

Scoring is down in baseball since the steroid era, that helps explain at least some of it.

I have never understood the lack of discussion on pitchers and roid use.
It was always pretty clear to me that just as many pitchers (per capita of course) as hitters were juicing in the heyday of the steroid era.
The only reasons I could ever think of are that there are less pitchers in the league leading to fewer instances of them getting caught and the fact that the media likes to dumb down the conversation as much as possible so that they don't have to work as hard as they should.

Kubel has always been fairly consistent when he's healthy. He's now playing half his games in Chase Field; it doesn't surprise me in the least that he's having a really nice year.

Even if one accepts the premise that just as many pitchers were using it does not mean the the effects are the same in terms of performance. Roids increase bat speed. That is crucial to hitting. Roids do not increase arm speed for pitchers. That's why pitchers don't have big muscular arms like Mark and Sammy. It merely allows them to recover faster between starts and training.

also allows them to throw harder for longer w/o nearly as much fear of killing their arms.
harder pitches hit by roided up dudes = more HRs
and roids dont necessarily increase bat speed for everyone. It really depends on how the guy is training. You could end up like Ruben Sierra and f-ck up your swing like he did once he was in NYC and got all shredded.

Some definitely used amphetamines. Not sure if they still do. High school buddy used to pitch in the majors.

players have a different approach at the plate nowadays. They are more aggressive and will k more often.
