Anyone else not believe these results at all? I feel like there's no way in hell it would be this close a call.
I edited the title for a little clarity.

There's no way it's true. If both teams were playing in the final at the same time, the women would be lucky to about 5% of the combined audience.

yah, 353 votes isn't a great sample

Only 352 people have voted. Abby Wambach could have called all her girlfriends and told them to go vote.

It's also EXTREMELY skewed by the recent success of the women. Americans are bandwagoners.
Everyone's favorite expert on soccer, Bill Simmons wrote about how he thinks the women would draw a higher rating if two matches went on simultaneously in a recent mailbag, while also shitting on MLS (despite never watching the league).

Yes, but what I'm dying to know is how he related the women's national team to "The Wire"

In terms of ratings, how did the Women's final last year compare to the Men's final in 2010?

You would watch the women's WC final over the men's if both national teams were participating?
You sir, are a horrible liar.

I was about to get real mad.

Over the past two summers... the casual fan seems more intrigued with the USWNT... just my quick pulse on casual US sports fan...

It's 56-44 in favor of the men right now. Seems very believable to me, especially considering the bump for the US women based on the gold medal.

Dissent of the American Way will not be tolerated.
I disagree because the the WNT has had more games of any worth to begin with. If the USMNT made it to the World Cup Final, much less, an Olympics final, viewership would absolutely skullfrick anything the women's team has ever seen.

While the women have been more successful recently, I still have to think more would watch the men. If I had to guess its a 80-20 split....

I think voters are underestimating how excited they would actually be if the usmnt made it to the world cup final. Say, for whatever fricking reason, the women are also playing their final match at that time. 44% of all the soccer watching population in the states are gonna watch the women? Well I'll believe ya when my shite turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbet. This is another example of bandwagonism of the casual soccer fan.
