For some reason, I'm thinking that Dragonglass can kill the Others (ie: White Walkers) but not the Wights (ie: humans that were turned by the Others). Not sure if I'm remembering that right though.
I do think that the Wights can be at least dismembered by ordinary means because I think they've had like hands of one or more of them before that they kept or sent to places.

Just finished my reread of the series (started in January finally done) and man did I miss some stuff the first time.
The writing really took a nosedive after ASoS, but it was still enjoyable. Really hope they streamline all the Brienne in the Riverlands and Dany in Mereen bullshite when they get that far in the show.
Also, the mention of kitty Balerion in the epilogue just before Varys appears and gives his great speech about kingship to Kevan, great stuff.

Sam tries to kill a wight with dragonglass in the series and the blade breaks. It happens during the scene where he is introduced to Coldhands I believe. So yeah, just fire can kill the wights.

You are correct on the armor thing I believe as far as it breaking on the armor, but I believe he stabbed wight Paul many times. But I doubt Martin has them killable by dragonglass anyway. If a simple jab with dragonglass could take out the wights it would make Dany's dragons a fairly moot point.

How much of a dork am I that I saw a chick flick with my favorite Lannister the night before its official release date??? BTW Tywin apparently isn't the only Lannister that can shite gold, for those of you whose women are dragging you to see it this weekend; and Kate Upton really does have a weird shaped arse.
