I've now convinced myself he comes back as AA, but also possibly as an Other.
I just hope he's better than Uncat, I don't like her

I think you need to accept that he "died"
No way, Jose - Martin's gotten my goat several times already. What you needed to say was "assume" but you know better. Don't get me wrong, I'm not like a die-hard Jon fan (ok, that's kinda a lie) but I don't have a "You dirty bird, you killed MISERY!!" thing about it, I just don't want to be fooled. What happens to Jon after he finally meets Mel's "daggers in the dark" really reads the same as if he lost consciousness, so there is no way to KNOW he's dead based on the text.
ETA: I also missed the clues about the bleeding star etc during the "death" scene, so if he comes back/ resurrected by Mel I won't be shocked or disappointed, cuz either way, Jon's story is not over. R+L=J forever!!
This I remembered from a frantic search (see, told ya it was a lie) after I first read the book. Took me a sec, but I found it:
quote:
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: So why did you kill Jon Snow?
GEORGE R.R. MARTIN: Oh, you think he’s dead, do you?
Old, but interesting interview following release of Dance: LINK

Who is Tansy?
It's the key ingredient in Moon Tea that causes spontaneous abolishonortionismses
- miscarriages.
I know Hoster Tully was repeating it like it was someone's name, recalling the memory of when he 'forced' Lysa to drink Moon Tea when she got knocked up (by LF?) real young.
I don't remember if it was also actually someone's name or not...I don't think so, but someone here knows for sure.

I think it was the name of a whore who works at the whore house Arya and the BWB stayed at in Stoney Sept.
quote:just did some research. Tansy is a few people's name but they seem to be thrown in as red herrings for the actual LF connection. this is strengthen by Lysa admitting her abortion shortly before she flies out the door

the depth of his writings never ceases to impress me

So in the context of Hoster Tully's tormented-by- guilt-on-my-deathbed scene, Tansy isn't referred to as an actual person (?) That, I was unsure about.
I'm like 75% sure that Jon comes back the body of Ghost, and if this is true then I'm not sure that he ever gets back to being in human form again. This is why Martin showed the prologue of ADWD with the Sixskins. The Sixskins say that after a warg dies his "spirit" (or whatever) goes into one of the creatures that he wargs into.
One way that this could go is that Jon being Ghost creates some sort of connection with Bran in the heart tree network. They then work together to fight against the long night (?). This even fits the prophesy of rebirth because it is the start of Jon's second life as a direwolf.

But there just happens to be a red priestess on hand, one who has been seeing visions of Jon everytime she searches the flames for AA.

Temporarily, yeah, but I think he will eventually rise in his original body.

I guess the main reason that I think Jon stays in Ghost is because the idea of his coming back completely seems to neat for Martin to me. There needs to be some trade off of disapointment. As a wolf Jon can be very influential in the fight against the Others, but he will never get any real recognition. This seems fitting for his character.

What if AA can transform between bodies like a Lycan (or whatever it is that the person can change from wolf to man at will)
Everybody is happy and it would be badass

exactly
The beauty of ASOIAF is that GRRM wrote things to where they are not black and white, but grey. On the surface, yes, Jamie throwing Bran out is pure evil but if Bran climbs down and tells Ned who then tells Robert, Jamie and his sister along with the kids are dead.
In the books it's kind of lightly spelled out that had Cat not freed Jamie he probably would have just died eventually in the cells. I mean, when would Robb have EVER given him up?
