So that leads me to believe the Hooded Man is either a Stark or Stark supporter. I'd throw my guess in that it could be Benjen Stark (I read somewhere that Martin debunked that he was Coldhands) since "A Stark Must Always be in Winterfell" and I think someone has entered through the crypts.

The crypts are certainly interesting, nobody has been to the deepest parts in hundreds of years. He also tells us that the secret to John's lineage lies there, we tend to assume that it lies with Lyanna and the probability that she is John's mother but it could also be that a stark is residing deep in the crypts. The craziest theory I have heard is that a dragon is sleeping deep beneath Winterfell and is the source of the warm water that wells up from the earth there.

Another theory that is pretty crazy to think about is the ice dragons. It is still at large as to wether or not GRRM's book "The Ice Dragon" is set in the same world as ASOIAF but I am fairly certain it is. In that case it would be interesting to see if Jon or Bran are capable of mounting/skin changing them. I firmly believe that Jon will be connected with a dragon and potentially Bran also (blood raven foreshadows that he will fly one day). We know that Bloodraven (the green seer) had the last known dragon egg in Westeros, it was white with red specs which obviously points to Jon. It was last seen near the wall, my guess is that the wall comes down seeing as Sam has the Horn of Winter. I think this will all be tied to Jon and a dragon but it will be interesting to see how it pans out.

While I'm thinking about it another interesting story is Cold Hands. For a little back story when Bran sees Ned through the weirwood, Leaf tells him that it wouldn't be wise to speak and try to will him back, possibly indicating that it isn't out of the realm of possibility. Now back to where the story meets cold hands, bran asks who he is and he replies "your monster Bran Stark". This could be just him saying that he was summoned there for Bran or it could be him saying that Bran is physically responsible for him being there, possibly by willing him back from a weirwood (remember they have no traditional sense of time). If this were true it would put a different spin on who cold hands is and why he keeps his face hidden at all times, it could literally be anyone who Bran would not need to see their face at the cost of him understanding what would be in his future. It's also important to keep in mind that the Others and the land of always winter might not be the absolute bad guys as we currently perceive them, and the greenseer/children of the forest certainly aren't even though Melissandre views them that way. The Starks have always been the kings of winter and I expect one of them (possibly Benjen) to take that role once GRRM reveals that part of the world to us. GRRM says that Jon is kind of a gray character and so far that hasn't been the case, I think in the end there is much more of a needed balance between the cold and warmth and I think the wall will inevitably be brought down to accomplish that. Especially it the horn Ghost dug up is indeed the horn of winter, and I can't see any way that it isn't.

That would be the coolest thing of all-time. Either Jon or Arya riding the beast to take down Casterly Rock would make my life complete.

I agree it is an interesting take. Arya is also interesting, there are a few different references that point to her killing Sansa and that is another interesting plot theory all together. It could make sense though especially considering that Sansa's direwolf is dead which symbolizes her separation from the Starks.

What if there is a dragon hidden in the Wall? When the Horn of Joramun/Euron's Horn is blown, it would wake that dragon, and when it breaks free, it brings down the wall. Fulfills both horn prophesies

The new d&e needs to come out so we can have some more discussion material.

Any word on when the big reference book is due? I remember when a similar book came out for Jordan's Wheel of Time. There was a ton of backstory & fleshing out of details and timelines, I hope Martin takes a similar tack.

I know that he is releasing a reference book of sorts but I'm not sure when it is scheduled to come out, I am pretty sure he intends to release it within the next year or so though. I'm not holding my breath on WoW, my guess is 4 years.

The last I heard he had 200 completed and 200 draft pages so about 400 total, that isn't much more than he had when DoD released but the last year has been a media shite show for him I'm sure with the show going on and all.

If Aegon is actually Aegon I'll be pissed, I seriously doubt that's who he is and kind of expect him to die soon. I feel like Tyrion may be a Targ, the references to Aerys taking first rights to Tywin's wife are too much of a hint. That would point to Jamie and Cersei being Targs but I think it is more likely that the affair continued and Tyrion is the Targ seeing as he is completely different along with his different colored eyes being a metaphor. He was immune to the Grayscale when he fell in the river and seems to have never been effected by the wild fire even though he was fighting in the midst of it.

I'm not writing off the possibility, in order for John to compete there has to either be a dragon there or he has to take one of dany's

Have you read all the books? I'm not a Tyrion fan yet but he is growing on me. If any of you have the time you should read the mini series starting with the hedge knight. The ice dragon is also worth a read and only takes like 20 minutes to read
