just sit there and spam the $100 tip and eventually she will give you a gun. You can get the Fire SMG as many times as you want and it will scale with your level (so if you have leveled up a bit, go tip her and get a new, stronger SMG).
It isn't known whether or not you can get her corrosive SMG multiple times, but if you want another one just create a new character, join an online game with someone of the desired level, tip Moxxi until you get it, then trade it to your main character.

I still use Moxxi's corrosive gun. It's badass for loaders.

seriously, the only way it's similar is that there's random chest's and enemies drop weapons and ammo. "what you see, everyone else gets." that's the BL loot system.

They said specifically when they made the first one that they modeled the game after Diablo. The fact that the items are shared is the only difference. If you want to split hairs, sure, it's TOTALLY different.

The diablo loot system is exactly like the borderlands loot system. They didn't go to the individual loot till D3. Just because you haven't played D2 doesn't mean it didn't exist and D3 wasn't out yet when Borderlands was released.
