Not just a random thought, but a serious question pertaining to the rules.

What are the rules when it comes to a suspended player from one team transferring to a different school in order to play football?
In this case with TM7 going to McNeese, why was McNeese able to pick him up as opposed to another school? I am happy that he is going to stay in state at Lake Charles, but would have rather seen him end up with the Ragin Cajuns. I believe under the resurgence of the Cajuns under Hudspeth, that TM7 would have set them over the top this season. He certainly would receive more exposure. With that fast, turf field in Lafayette, he would have exploded on punt returns!

Ok, thanks for the answer.

If he could have, I wonder what school he would have chosen?

McNeese is not in the same division as LSU and ULL.

Going to another school in D-a would force him to sit out for a year.

My question is, after he serves his time at McNeese, do you think LSU would give him one more chance at a senior year if he doesn't go pro? Or can they?

Yes, he would have to sit out a year if he went to ULL, ULM, or Tulane.

LSU released him as an eligible player, so that's how he's able to play right away at mcneese.

He would have to sit out a year when he came back due to transfer rules.

We have a turf at mcneese broseph.

This is also a very small window when ULL is actually better than us. Don't expect then to sustain when Hud jumps ship.

Really? I wonder why. He wouldn't have to sit out anywhere else. After playing a year in FCS, players transfer to another FBS school and play again without sitting an additional year. I guess there's a special provision for going back to your original school?

No, they sit out unless they are granted a waiver by the NCAA to be eligible immediately. If a player transfers from FBS to FBS, or up to FBS from a lower level, they must sit out.

You may be thinking of juco transfers.

No. He is eligible to play at McNeese right away because it is a step down in division. Has nothing to do with LSU releasing him. Even though LSU released him, if he tranferred to a Bowl Subdivision team, he'd have to sit out a year.

So much misinformation in this thread. Choot Em also said he is "not eligible to transfer to a d1 FBS school". That is not true either.

Not sure this is true...but I will take your word for it.

In general students transfer down in order to play so they can go pro.

If he wanted to play D1 ball again he would enroll somewhere else and sit out a year. If he did that he would still have 3 yrs to play 2 seasons since he has hasn't redshirted.

I guess, but I thought that was the point of guys transferring to the Jax States of the world when they screwed up at FBS schools, so they could play during their "sit out" year (albeit at the lower level).

He cannot play D1 football unless he sits out one year. But why is he eligible at any university? And more sadly an NFL team will still draft him.

Miles at least stood his ground & protected himself & LSU. Penn State had the same opportunity i.e. do what is correct.
