The players should just take it like men.

Where are all the people who were saying that shite?

Can't see Vilma taking the deal unless it comes with an admission from the league that he's being suspended for pay for play and not pay to injure. It would look awful for the league to back pedal now since Roger went all-in.

This is also very strange after Roger did that interview over the weekend where he said the Saints players admitted to bounties and pay to injure in court. I must have missed that one.

now we know why he was so butthurt and defensive the entire interview... he had to keep acting like the NFL really had a case, all while knowing that in reality, the NFL had already began settlement talks LOL

I sort of don't want Vilma to settle. This is very telling because you know the NFL has plenty of money to fight this in court. They know they don't have the goods or that their info comes from a sketchy guy.

PFT isn't reporting it - only citing a report by the LEAGUE-OWNED NFL Network.

I can just picture it in my head...

Goodell to one of his peons: "Quick, get some random scrub on our channel to dispute the ESPN report!"

Peon: "Yes sir!"

+2. I do wonder if Goodell would be able to weasel his way out of defamation by throwing the evidence fabricator under the bus, but if not I think Vilma probably has a decent chance proving his case.

Or it could be that the owners have told Roger that the season is starting and he said he'd be done by now and he better clean this up fast or he'll end up in a tragic car accident.

I went to espn.com earlier to read more about it. The comments section was head scratching. People are so fricking ignorant. They can't see that the NFL wouldn't even entertain the idea of settlement talks unless they thought Vilma had a case.

If Goodell's even thinking about a settlement, its for a reason. I say frick him, see you in court.

This! It's all too conveinient that all of a sudden he wants to talk about reducing some of these penalties. I think that he is showing his hand while trying to not be too obvious. He doesn't have shite! If I was Vilma, I would ride this train all the way through court and open the door for SP.

IMO there's no point in settling. This case wont go on for a large part of the season. If he accepts it, he's out for half the season. Even if he gets the injunction in the 5th game, that's a big win. But I think you get the verdict before the preseason is over
