I caught this for the first time last night. What a shite sandwich of a movie. I'm not going to sit here and go on and on about how my childhood was ruined or anything. I remember the cartoons and the comic books well enough to remeber how stupid the vehicles were and how dumb the action and the combat was. So that didn't bother me at all.
The casting was dumber than shite. Marlon Wayans was so out of place the entire movie. Do they even get military advisors in movies like this? Channing Tatum as Major and Marlon Wayans as a Master Sergeant is retarded. How difficult is to put appropriate rank on someone? And maybe tell them to shave their goatees.
I thought Quaid as Hawk was perfectly cast. Destro was a big disappointment. And Cobra Commander for that matter.
Anyway, hot shite on a plate.

thats why it is already having a reboot
they kill off everyone and put some legit actors in the new one, which was supposed to drop this summer but got pushed back

Got pushed back for reshoots to include more Tatum and also to distant itself from the similar in tone Battleship that bombed.
From what I've seen, they're tanking a lot of the crap characters from the first one but its not technically a reboot.

I was okay with Tatum as Duke, and Ray Park as Snake Eyes. But I wince everytime I think of Marlon Wayans.

Looks like those two are the only one's returning from the first one. Even Cobra Commander will be a new actor which isn't surprising since it was pretty unusual that JGL played him at all.

The movie was terrible. Resembled nothing like the GI Joe I remember. The romantic situations between Duke and the Baroness was a joke.
However, I really liked the casting of Ray Park play Snake Eyes and Quaid as General Hawk. I also liked how Arnold Vosloo portrayed Zartan.
