my buddy and me bought new Tikka T3 super lights in .270 and have been zeroing them in with a load, my buddy is going to Alaska next month so more time and effort into his, had some help with getting the load just right, but he is shooting 3/4" 3 shot group at 100 yards, 1 1/2" group at 300 and nailed the bulls eye at 500 after making the 4 inch correction

You realize that u sighted in at 500 yards on a 100 yard target right? That shot group is what I would expect in that scenario. Was the center shot his last shot?

the 3 shot group is at the top of the target, pretty damn good for 500 yards, he made the elevation adjustment and was dead on, the single shot down and to the left was an obvious pull

Disregarding the pull, there are only two bullet holes at at or above center.

EAT: The hole at center right above the 4 is a hole that is pre-punched in those targets. Why you telling fibs here?

I see a 9-10 inch 3 shot grouping. He doesnt need to be taking shots at game with that kinda grouping. Show me where he made a 3 inch, 3 shot group @ 500yds and I will be impressed. Sounds like his longest shot he needs to make is 300yds. From what I see he isnt good enough for 500yds yet.

Those two at the very top..one is a bullet hole and the other is the hole used to hang it on the rack in the store. Surely you werent counting that one.

no rifle and scope sighted in at 200, he has multiple horizontals on the reticale, and took a few shots to figure out

I will ask him, it does look like the big hole above the target is a nail hole? looks like 2 shot group in addition to that, I will ask him...regardless he was shooting high, made the adjustment and and bulls eye

It's not a nail hole. It's pre-punched with those targets when they are manufactured. I'm just busting balls but I know that is fact.

This is correct. So what you have is a pic of a shitty 3 shot grouping at 500yds where he got lucky and one of them hit the bullseye.

negative a grouping is when you shoot several times at the same spot on the target without adjustments

shot one and two were high (just confirmed the hole that is circled on the top of the target is 2 shots), windage to the left, he made a 5" elevation adjustment and hit bullesye with shot three, the outlyer is low and left

That sounds alot better than the OP. Did he shoot anymore after he hit the bullseye@500? He should have popped off two more rounds just to make sure he was on. What scope is he using?

The smell of bullshite is getting much stronger now. I was busting balls, but now I'm calling shenanigans.

magnify the picture and measure the diameter of the holes, you can see the tress behind them
