Just interesting tidbits. Too broad to be striking, but better than not selling out to the cable model.

I like that you posted this. It was an interesting article. I wish I had more to contribute to this thread.
I hate the cable TV business model. I wish the media corporations would get their heads out of their asses and modernize, but they won't do it until they absolutely have to.

Literally I haven't watched television in months and I am 24 until I caught media days yesterday.

I know I know I was short in my response to the article. I posted in the middle of an insane workday, but yeah.
I mean, I'm sure few media outlets are ready to call a spade a spade and rat out the inefficiency of the current television cable monopoly (both in practice and in structure). Most of media's money relies on well, television, and since most of America is on cable, yeah.
The recent "you didn't build this debate," did get me thinking though. One of the usual defenses for the cable companies (even from some on this board) is the "Cable companies built the infrastructure, why shouldn't they make money off of it," when referencing download speeds/bandwith/etc. Well... how much do construction companies make off of roads and the businesses that use them for commerce?

I see what you're saying, but individuals don't pay for upkeep directly for those. When maintenance and upkeep are needed, government pays...not users.
Also when roads are built, the company is (in theory) paid upfront/on completion. Cable companies have to invest first and recoup after. They can't make money without any means to deliver their product.

Point.

Again, part of the model change that cable companies can start to consider.
