Did any of you guys who went to Dallas for the Oregon game last year buy one of the "standing room only" passes? Just called a ticket outlet and regular tickets are pretty outrageous but they were selling these standing room only passes for about $90. What kind of access does this pass afford? Is it a complete waste of money or do you have any viewing access of the field at all? Thanks!!

its not as bad as some make it seem but I don't think it'd be enjoyable. my seat was about 15 rows in front of SRO

if you get there early and get to the front of one of the standing room areas, you are fine unless the fans in seats below you stand. I think some of the upper standing areas do not have seats in front of them

i could see the field with no problems by the middle of the first quarter. people are constantly leaving to piss and get beer. for the first 7 minutes i had to watch the jumbotron. and i got there just moments before kickoff so i started in the back.

If you get there early enough you can have a good view. However, if you show up at kickoff you'll be watching on the tvs

I think they had some of the standing room only areas marked off for pregame parties for the teams (like TAF etc.. just drinks and food and games) but the area didnt look bad at all to watch a game, besides the fact you are standing for 3+ hours.. The tickets would be alright if you could stand standing that long and you got in the front. If you werent in the front of the SRO you would be watching the mammoth big screen the whole game

So would you suggest going ahead and securing a $90 standing room only ticket now or simply wait a few hours before kickoff instead? Obviously at some point they'll cut off sales. I have a feeling I may be taking a chance by waiting until the day of the game to purchase.

You have to get there early, but then you going to spend all that money you saved in stadium beer.

From what I've read, you want to do this as a last resort...a seat is what you want.

I bought a standing room only ticket for me, my brother, and our wives for $50 about an hour and a half before kickoff. The view wasn't the best obviously but I could see as much as I wanted and the tv's are incredible, and most of all I paid chump change compared to what some of my friends paid. I really don't think you would be running a risk, there was a shite TON of ppl buying SRO tickets and I didn't hear of anyone being turned away except for maybe 15 minutes before kickoff.

I went to the A&M and Oregon games. Sat really close for the A&M game and watched the screen most of the time. Sat really high up for the Oregon game and definitely watched the screen most of the time. For the first time, it doesn't matter where you sit or stand, you will watch the world's largest HD screen. That being said, I think standing room only tickets are on the endzones, so you'll only be able to see the "small" HD screens.

Do like me and get hammered so that way you don't feel your feet. We could still see when the people sitting down in front of us stood. Just make sure you get there early and you and some friends do it together that way when one of you has to piss the other one can hold down the spot.

In other words, they'll probably be many many people holding out to the last minute to find a ticket so there should be a decent # of standing room only spots leading up to the game? That's the way I interpret that.

Great point about them getting back the difference in beer sales. I have a feeling I'm going to have to load up before the game and not partake once I get in the stadium. I just have a hard time just on principle paying $10 for a single beer (unless it's a high quality 24 or more ounce beer.....which I realize is probably an oxymoron.)

I hand standing room tix. Got 30 before game. Had front row, so I didn't complain.

Bought 2 tickets outside for SRO for $35 each. SRO was ok for the game as you are in the stadium and are part of the excitement. Don't think I'd pay $90 each, though. Had a great time tailgating before and after the game

Sounds like a great backup plan. You brought up a really good consideration I didn't think of and that is piss breaks and losing your spot up front if you aren't with others. I'm probably going to be going with a girl and guy I work with and the girl is debating on whether or not to buy a regular ticket. I may talk her into going with your plan of buying 3 SRO passes and sticking together which sounds like a smart way to do it.

yeah i didnt mention but i was with a friend so if i had to piss he held our spot and vice versa. same for grabbing beers. it really didnt take long at all to make our way to the front.
