An aggregate of inside accounts of the studio
This game was doomed long before it started, but it's interesting to see what game developers have to deal with in regards to the somewhat brutal schedules.

Kaos Studios began when four friends -- Frank Delise, Brian Holinka, Stephen Wells, and Tim Brophy -- developed an incredibly successful and acclaimed Battlefield 1942 mod called Desert Combat. The mod's success led to the team forming Trauma Studios, which Digital Illusions CE quickly bought up in 2004 to help develop Battlefield 2.
Holy shite, I didn't know that was the DC guys. I played the hell outta that.

Yup, DICE snatched them up but then cut em loose.

Makes sense. I knew a bunch of people that were into modding UT, MoHAA, and BF1942. They did great jobs messing with an already established game, but there is no way I would ever give them the keys to the kingdom.

Homefront was awful because the game developers were intimidated by the Chinese. The Red Dawn guy pussied out and wrote about the how Korean would be our enemies instead of the Chinese. We all know it is coming.
It was really disappointing when back in 1980 we weren't afraid of the Russian and made anti- russian movie but now we can't make anti- chinese games without being afraid of the backlash.
Seriously, Koreans as the main bad guys? Koreans? You gotta be kidding me.

I guess you can't piss off the guys packaging the games for you.

To be fair, there weren't huge ramifications to making fun of the USSR during the 80s because they weren't a market and didn't manufacture so many of our goods. China is a potential market and is a manufacturing base so it wasn't smart to poke the bear I guess.

After they fixed the MP stability, I will still say that there is fun to be had there.
