The tachometer and speedometer aren't working. Any ideas of what may be the problem or cost of repair? I will most likely fix it myself, but thought I would ask the OB before researching.

Age of the boat? Digital or analog gauges?

What kind of motor. Most small outboards have small pinhole on the front of the lower unit for the speedo. It will get clogged from time to time.

Speedometers typically don't work after a couple of trips because the lower unit hole gets clogged. I wouldn't even want that fixed they usually aren't accurate anyway.

yea neither work on our express either. Got it slightly used (40ish hours).

We just use the GPS for speed b/c I don't think it's worth fixing.

Like others said don't worry about the speedometer. They aren't very accurate on boats anyway
