I wasnt expecting too much going in but I like all Liam movies...I dont think anyone could have played this role better than him. The movie was good but slow at times and predictable at times. I think it ended well though.

I've heard about a Taken 2.. but is The Grey 2 for real?

Id imagine the opening scene being Liam walking out with a wolf pelt coat on and an army of wolves tied up at his side

"The Grey" is a remake of "Sands of the Kalahari" with only a few changes.

Sands of the Kalahari is the better of the two movies.

Taken 2 would be a better premise if someone he was being a bodyguard for was kidnapped or something but that movie was called Man on Fire.

I know it’s a movie where you’re supposed to turn off your brain but come on. Why would you leave the wreckage? They can find the wreckage. Even if the plane wasnt sending out some sort of signal, the search party could certainly find a big fire were you to build one. Also it’s shelter. You can build a fortification around it from the wolves. Stupid. But moving past that. The clothes rope scene over the river was pretty retarded as well. Then apparently Liam’s character was immune to hypothermia after swimming around in that river for a while. No effects shown whatsoever. Then our fearless leader the entire time ends up actually walking right into the freaking wolves’ den. BRILLIANT. It was mildly entertaining but I couldn’t help but keep asking WTF are you doing at the screen. It was also about 20 minutes or so too long.

Watched it 2 nights ago. It wasn't completely terrible, the acting was good and at times the dialogue was very good. But the flaws were glaring. With a little better effort this could have been a good flick.

Yeah, that was colossally stupid.

"We have no shelter here - we need to walk to the woods where we'll be protected". WTF?

The clothes rope scene over the river was pretty retarded as well.

Yep. I think they just felt the need to throw in some special effects or something but that was terribly executed and dumb.

Yeah, his life expectancy on entering the stream was minutes but it never really bothered him.

Maybe the whole movie was his dying dream as the plane crashed and none of it actually happened. That would be a better assumption than the actual plot.

That was messed up when he told that guy he was dying. I wanted to vomit when they cooked the dog and cut his head off.

Liam Neeson has become a caricature of himself. The Grey was terrible. I'd heard that it was supposed to be decent compared to his more recent garbage, but my sources were wrong. Completely unrealistic and every decision made was the wrong decision. Just garbage.

I absolutely loved The Grey, especially the ending. I loved that poem they kept referring to and thought it was a great touch. Liam can do no wrong.

Here is a real den:

The den's are fairly similar, obviously the movie one has snow. Also, carcasses and bones would appear outside of the den. If you want to attack the movies realness, attack the ridiculousness that is the wolves behavior.

Wolves are big time wimps when it comes to humans, so obviously they changed that so they could make this movie.

Honestly, the movie was great right up to the plane crash, then after that it became Taken in the wild. I think this movie could have actually been pretty damn good if it was a movie about survival in the Alaskan wilderness, without the wolves. Even with the ridiculousness that is the wolves, I was still entertained. It actually had some great dialogue and cinematography along with a pretty damn good score. I have seen way worse movies than this.

Some of the special effects were cheesy and I hated Mr. No Mas.

I agree with all the criticisms. Wolves would never attack 7 grown adult men like that. Stupid.

Leaving the plane = stupid.

Trying to swing across the canyon = stupid.

Not dying in minutes of hypothermia = stupid.

Not actually going underwater to get the guy's foot unstuck from rocks while trying to lift a 1,000 pound tree = stupid.

The movie had potential but was pretty crappy.

I haven't seen this movie since the theater, but my initial reaction sas that I thoroughly enjoyed it. And I loved the ending, though I am a sucker for the non-traditional "hero makes it one end" Hollywood endings.

And it's interesting to me that everyone says this movie wasn't realistic, yet they're all too quick to get down on their knees and fellate the newest installment of the Batman franchise months before it even comes out. Why suspend disbelief so easily for one yet not the other? I never once heard the filmmakers try to convince me it was a realistic take on survival on the Alaskan wilderness.

I really think this could've been a very good survival movie. I was blown away by the plane crash scene and up to that point I absolutely loved the movie. Like it's been said, the film had a lot of potential without the wolves. I thought Liam's character was very interesting and very well done in the first half and still liked his character overall.

The wolves absolutely killed this movie though.
