Has anyone ever went to a restaurant and got the tasting menu and wine pairing solo? I've always wanted to do that, especially when I go to Vegas b/c my friends will never been interested in dropping that much money on a meal. I want to go to August and do that solo. If you have, how was it? TIA

One of the find upstanding gentleman of the FD will be happy to take you to August, depending on your dress size/sluttiness ratio.

Do it. They have a great bar for dining alone.

Don't do it often (maybe 3 or 4 times a year) but I enjoy having a nice meal alone. No TV, no company.. just people watch, enjoy the food and some drinks, maybe strike up a conversation with the person next to you. And the key to really enjoying it: leave your cell phone in the car.

Rohan- thanks. I eat alone sometimes at lunch, I've just always wondering about doing a whole 6 course tasting menu.
BTW- I never get to eat downtown for lunch and I've been to August for the prix fixe lunch (fantastic), off tomorrow and thinking about Emeril's or Cafe Adelaide for the lunch special. where should I go?

Sounds like a good time to me. You could even bring a book.

I did it four years ago at one of Emeril's places in Vegas and enjoyed the hell out of the experience. Sat at the bar and had the tasting menu with wines. The bartender was really cool and took the time to explain the food and wine with each course in great detail.

thanks notiger1997. I def want to try it out. I wish my friends were down to do stuff like this but I don't mind eating by myself. I've always wanted to try Joel Robuchon at MGM honestly.

I eat alot of meals alone. My co-workers are annoying as hell and are a pain in the arse to be with at restaurants, so I eat out at lunch alot alone.

When I travel, I save a night or two to go have a nice meal. Usually sit at the bar and make friends with the bartender or people around me. It's called having a personality and not being worried about what people think of you.

Ate at a great Italian place in Denver last week alone. Sat at the kitchen bar and watched five chefs do their thing while the lead guy yelled out orders and expedited the food up to the wait staff and runners. It was really a cool arse meal and experience.

There are plenty that are cheaper than this, but yeah that sounds about right for August. Well worth the money for stuff like that.

I love coquette and the tasting menu there is a steal. $45 for 4 courses, add $25 for the wine pairings.
